WORTHINGTON, OH, March 16, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thomas G. Naymik, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
As a young man, Dr. Naymik was fascinated by the beauty of the Earth, from the oceans to the mountains. Driven by a passion for nature, he earned a Bachelor of Science in geology from Ohio State University in 1972. Following this accomplishment, he received a master's degree in geology from Louisiana State University and a Doctor of Philosophy in geology from Ohio State University in 1974 and 1977, respectively. Over the course of his career, Dr. Naymik honed his now considerable expertise through a wide range of roles with the Illinois State Water Survey, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the University of Illinois, where he served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Geology.
Dr. Naymik furthered his knowledge of the industry at various points in in his professional journey, becoming a licensed professional geologist in Illinois and Indiana, a professional geoscientist in Louisiana, a certified groundwater professional through the National Groundwater Association, a certified professional geologist through the American Institute of Professional Geologists, and a board certified environmental scientist through the American Academy of Environmental Scientists and Engineers. Prior to his retirement in recent years, he worked as a principal geologist and the senior research leader for the Battelle Memorial Institute and as a senior consultant in hydrogeology for the Eagle Research Company.
Throughout his career, Dr. Naymik has achieved much, including teaching at the university level and maintaining involvement as a principal investigator, project and program manager for many large and small hydrogeology related projects. He also conducted a great deal of contamination plume modeling research and worked in the private sector. Additionally, Dr. Naymik served as an expert witness during a case that arose from the disaster of Hurricane Katrina.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Naymik aligns himself with the American Institute of Professional Geologists. While his career has been filled with highlights, he is most proud of the summation of his contributions to the country, mainly via the Department of Energy. He is also grateful for his opportunities to travel to Greece. Looking forward, Dr. Naymik aims to travel more widely and enjoy his retirement.
