Marquis Who's Who Selects Franco DiPasqua as a Leader in Mathematics and Science Education

Mr. DiPasqua serves as the Director of K-12 Mathematics and Science for the West Seneca Central School District



    WEST SENECA, NY, March 16, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Franco DiPasqua has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. DiPasqua, is a first generation Italian-American and the Director of K-12 Mathematics and Science Education for the West Seneca Central School District in West Seneca, New York. He is responsible for all K-12 Mathematics and Science curriculum, assessment and instructional material for five elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. Amongst his role, Mr. DiPasqua facilitates the ordering of school textbooks, software and other supplies to support the Mathematics and Science Classrooms and Laboratories of approximately 250 teachers and 6,500 students. He also supervises Federal Title Grant Programming to ensure that additional monies are used in a meaningful way to support struggling students. Mr. DiPasqua also serves as a Mathematics Content Advisor for the State Education Department.

Mr. DiPasqua has served in multiple capacities throughout his quarter century of service to children. He started as a Middle School and High School Mathematics Teacher, Academic Integration Specialist for Grades 9-12 Mathematics and Science Vocational Programs, K-12 BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) Mathematics Coordinator/Facilitator of Professional Development and a K-12 Mathematics and Science Supervisor before being named to his current position, as Director. During the span of his 25 year career in New York Public Education and still counting, he has had the honor of being a member of the IBM "Wired for Learning" Project for the State of Education Department in the late 90s, was chosen by the State Education Department Commissioner of Education to serve on the "Mathematics A" Committee to review the impact of Regents exams and graduation rates in 2003. Around that same time, he was inducted into the State's "Academy of Teaching and Learning". He has been featured in the NYSUT's New York Teacher Publication. Mr. DiPasqua has also served on an advisory panel for the Glencoe Series of Textbooks. In the early 2000s, Mr. DiPasqua also traveled to multiple comers of the state for the New York State Education Department in order to teach other educators about implementing Standardized Assessments in Grade 4 and Grade 8. Additionally, Mr. DiPasqua was recognized by the State Education Department of Education in 2007, for participating in the design of the New York State Sample Mathematics Tasks. While Commissioner Steiner and Deputy Commissioner King were active in the Education Department in Albany, he had the opportunity to be the spokesperson for the Statewide Mathematics Advisory Panel to explain the impact of the updated State Standards on much needed professional development for school districts. During the 2010s, Mr. DiPasqua assisted in the Algebra revisions that occurred within the New York State Mathematics Curriculum. This also included the review of State Regents Examinations before they were administered to students. Recently, he also participated in the design of the State's Next Generation Mathematics Standards Glossary of Mathematical Terms.

Hailing from a long record of community involvement, Mr. DiPasqua has the longest administrative seniority and serves as one of four executive officers for the West Seneca Schools Administrative Association and, among other initiatives, has been active with nonprofit schools and a local drug rehabilitation program, which helps students graduate high school. Professionally, he has been a member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the National Association of Supervision of Curriculum and Instruction. Mr. DiPasqua is also an active member within his Catholic faith community.

Having worked his way through college and earning four college degrees, Mr. DiPasqua initially earned an Associate's Degree in Mathematics and Science from Mohawk Valley Community College. Continuing his academic pursuits, he received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education from Cortland State College, a Master's of Science in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology from the State University of New York at Albany, and a postgraduate Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and Educational Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Commended for his expertise, Mr. DiPasqua was nominated as the Educator of the Year by the Town of West Seneca in 2021. He received a Certificate of Recognition from the Western New York Emerging STEM Program in 2014. In addition, he has previously received tenure within both his State of New York Teaching Certification, as well as his State of New York Administrative Certification.

Most importantly, Mr. DiPasqua is proud of his immediate and extended family. He is one of seven children who grew up in the Central New York Region. He and his wife share three teenage children (two daughters and a son) of their own. He is also proud of the fact that after a decade of commitment, he earned his Second Degree Registered Blackbelt in TaeKwonDo.
