Franz Jones Recognized For Contributions in Theater

Franz Jones is most proud to have performed as part of the original cast of Roger Miller's "Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn."

    NEW YORK, NY, March 17, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Franz Jones has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Mr. Jones has been distinguished for three decades of dedication to acting and the theater. He obtained a Master of Fine Arts in classical theater from the University of Delaware in 1995 after over 20 years of work in the theatre as a professional. Prior to this accomplishment, Mr. Jones trained at the Alpha-Omega Dance Studios, Texas Christian University, HB Studios with Uta Hagen, and Circle in the Square.

Mr. Jones subsequently worked at the Washington Theater Club, the Folger Theater, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and New York University School of Medicine as a Standardized Patient. He also acted in the original cast of the Broadway musical Big River before becoming a resident professional guest artist and teacher at Cornell University. Currently, he serves as the associate director of Essence of Acting, an ensemble of acting professionals who specialize in the works of new and established playwrights. In his capacity with the organization, Mr. Jones works with the artistic director, Ms. Lynnie Godfrey, award-winning actress, author, and director, in developing the company as a new voice in the theatrical community.

Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Jones has built a prolific career as an actor. He has starred in several Shakespearean plays including "The Comedy of Errors," "Othello," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "The Winter's Tale," "Romeo and Juliet," "Coriolanus," and "Hamlet." He has also appeared in several classic plays, such as "To Kill a Mockingbird," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf," and "Driving Miss Daisy." As a commitment to his field, Mr. Jones is a member of the Actors' Equity Association, the Screen Actors Guild, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Actors Fund of America. He also works as a coach on behalf of new actors.

Noted for achievements in the field, Mr. Jones received the Trans-Siberian Orchestra Gold Record for "The Lost Christmas." He was also the recipient of the National Merit Commended Scholar and the Diana Sands Scholarship. Among his career highlights, Mr. Jones is most proud to have performed as part of the original cast of Roger Miller's "Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." He attributes much of his success to his mother Dr. Effie Hall Jones, a former honoree in Who's Who in Education, and his father's encouragement, in addition to his personal commitment to his craft.
