Kathy Levine Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

An accomplished listee, Ms. Levine celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. An exceptional visual artist with a career spanning more than 35 years, Ms. Levine has excelled in creating art, exhibits, commissions, generating sales, as well as developing and teaching classes and workshops since 1984. Her innovative work which focuses on the human interconnection with the natural world, was recently selected for the timely "Earth on the Edge" exhibition at Ceres Gallery in New York City and an online exhibit of art made from up-cycled materials organized by the Sculptors Alliance. She also created two public art projects during Covid-19 titled "Prayers for the Pandemic" and "Black Lives Matter" in Brooklyn, New York. Inspired by her parents who both had an admiration for art and nature, Ms. Levine's artwork centers on the intersection of the natural and urban environments of New York City, where she lives and works.

Ms. Levine's extensive portfolio includes work in the Memorial Sloan Kettering's Cancer Center in Montvale, New Jersey, Dun and Bradstreet's Headquarters in Wilton, Connecticut, the design and construction of three elevator lobbies for the Federal Reserve Bank in East Rutherford, New Jersey, art in the collection of the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park, Petrified Forest, Arizona, Indiana Dunes National Park, Porter, Indiana and St. Joseph's College, Patchogue, New York. Additionally, her works have been exhibited widely in galleries, alternative spaces and museums, including the Brooklyn Museum's "Go Brooklyn Art" Open Studio Project, the United Nations General Assembly Virtual Web Gallery, El Barrio's Artspace, the Islip Art Museum, Soho Center for Visual Artists, New Jersey Center for Visual Arts, Cornell Medical Center, The Pan Am Building (now MetLife), The New York Law School, Cornell Medical Center and the Federal Plaza, among others.

Apart from representing her own artwork, Ms. Levine has notably organized and curated exhibitions for others with the C.A.I. R.N. (City Artists in Response to Nature) group which she co-founded and at the Anthony Giordano Gallery at Dowling College as well as at college galleries and alternative spaces in the New York City area. She is also an inspiring educator and taught classes in photography, drawing, painting, alternative techniques in photography, two and three dimensional design and digital photography for 30 years. Her tenure in academia included appointments at Adelphi University, Brooklyn College, The New School, Pratt Institute, Briarcliff College, Dowling College and Suffolk, Nassau and Kingsborough Community Colleges. Ms. Levine has also created and conducted workshops including paper making and casting, photography in the urban environment, eco-casting in NYC and wearable art, among others, at the Arts Students' League, the Fashion Institute of Art, Yellowstone National Park, the Painted Desert National Park, Penn State, Waterfall Arts and The Spence School among others. In addition, she photographed for the New York State United Teachers' Magazine, Kingsborough Community College, Dowling College and the Chinatown Planning Council.

In support of her community, Ms. Levine assisted in the organization of and participation in the Flatbush Artists group's "Flatbush Artists Studio Tour" for twelve years and in Artmageddon, part of Beautify Brooklyn, an outdoor community-wide art and music event on porches and in gardens in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Ms. Levine has also been active in the notable New York Artist Circle group. In addition, she participates in her neighborhood association's annual Arbor Day and became a Tree Steward with the Million Tree Program in NYC as well as created her own tree care group "Friends of Trees". In addition, Ms. Levine is active in supporting environmental groups and advocates for climate justice.

An alumnus of Potsdam College, a part of the State University of New York, Ms. Levine graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Art degree in Printmaking and Museum Studies in 1980. While at Potsdam College, she was selected to participate in the overseas program to study art and art history at the prestigious Maria Grey College in London, England. Shortly thereafter, she earned a Master of Fine Art in Photography at Pratt Institute in 1983. Ms. Levine developed her digital photography skills at the Fashion Institute of Technology in the mid 1990's. In the 2000's, she expanded her painting skills at the Arts Students' League. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the United States, parts of the Middle East and South Asia.

In recognition of her awards and achievements, Ms. Levine received a Brooklyn Arts Council Grant, an Honorarium from the Women's Caucus for Art, an Artist-in-Residence and Fellowship at Yellowstone National Park, a Graduate Fine Arts Fellowship from Pratt Institute, a Best in Show Award at St. Catherine's Gallery, in addition to being published in The New York Times by writer Helen A. Harrison, interviewed by Brooklyn News 12 and having a film titled "Kathy Levine (art and process)" made about her work . She was also selected as an Artist-in-Residence at the Millay Colony for the Arts, Soaring Gardens, by the Arts Center of Yates County, Indiana Dunes National Park and the Petrified Forest/Painted Desert National Park. In addition, Ms. Levine was presented with an Adjunct Professor Teaching Award during her years in education. A celebrated Marquis listee, she has been cited in multiple editions of Who's Who of American Women and America's Teachers.
