SEBRING, OH, March 18, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leslie A. Peine, Chaplain, Lt. Col., USAF, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having led a long and successful career in both military and religious service, Rev. Peine serves as a pastor for the Epworth United Methodist Church. Having preached the gospel at the Massillon, Ohio, church since 2016, he also maintains involvement as a mission chaplain with the Civil Air Patrol in Green, Ohio. Though he has been retired from full-time pastoral service since 2011, he previously contributed on behalf of his flock as the senior pastor for the First United Methodist Church in Massillon between 1995 and 2010. He also spent seven years as a minister of visitation and membership care at the Church of the Lakes UMC in Canton, Ohio, from 2011 until 2018.

In his spare time, Rev. Peine supports various veteran groups and the retired military community by offering his chaplain services at local funerals and at the National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. He also serves as a chaplain for the Serving Area Military, Spouses, and Widows Center, and as a chaplain for the Military Aviation Preservation Society Museum at the Akron-Canton Airport. Additionally, Rev. Peine is an active member of his local chapter of Rotary International, Kiwanis and the Ohio Military Museum.

After graduating from Chardon High School in 1963, Rev. Peine pursued his college education and received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology at Mount Union College in 1967. The following year, he completed officer training school at the Lakeland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and Communications-Electronics Officer School at the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, in 1969. Rev. Peine also earned a Master of Divinity in biblical studies at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 1975 and completed schooling at the Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base in 1981. Commissioned as a U.S. Air Force line officer in 1968, Rev. Peine notably served to the rank of a lieutenant colonel and retired from the U.S. Air Force Chaplain Service as a chaplain in 1995.

Rev. Peine is a professional member of the Military Officers Association of America and the American Legion. In 2010, he was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame, Department of Veteran's Affairs for the State of Ohio. For his tenure in the military, he was decorated with a Meritorious Service Medal, with four oak leaf clusters, an Air Force Commendation Medal, with one oak leaf cluster, an Air Force Achievement Medal, an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster, and an Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with one oak leaf cluster. Rev. Peine and his staff were also bestowed with an Air Force Humanitarian Medal and Ribbon for their contributions after Hurricane Andrew struck Homestead Air Force Base in Florida. He also raised $72,000, which was distributed to military members and families who had been devastated by the storm.

Among his many accomplishments in religious service, Rev. Peine had the opportunity to serve for four years as a senior chaplain at the Kennedy Space Center during the height of the shuttle program. He also spent time overseas in Saudi Arabia supporting the Iraqi government against Iran in 1983. Because chaplains were not allowed in their country, Rev. Peine secretly distributed Bibles to military members and held underground study and worship services.

Attributing his success to his faith, dedication and desire to serve others, Rev. Peine learned the value of hard work as a young man. Because his mother only had an eighth-grade education and his father suffered blindness due to an industrial accident at work, he went to work early to support his family. Presently, Rev. Peine is penning an autobiography to share his experiences with the world.
