Prior to beginning his career, Mr. Schmidt served honorably for the United States Air Force and the United States Navy. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of Southern California before obtaining a Master of Science in international business from American University. Mr. Schmidt later graduated with a Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University School of Law and became admitted to practice by the District of Columbia Bar.

Mr. Schmidt has founded and co-founded several organizations throughout his career, including Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Networks. Soon thereafter, he worked as the president and chief executive officer for the National Cable and Telecommunications Association and the founder of Communications Technology Management. He found further success as the president and co-founder of the Wireless Communications Association International as well as the chairman and chief executive officer for Great American Broadband Inc. Mr. Schmidt currently excels as the chairman and chief executive officer for Integration Communications International Inc. and the chief executive officer and executive director for the Pro Football Retired Players Association.

In his present role, Mr. Schmidt oversees all aspects of the organization and is supported by a small, dedicated staff. In recognition for his expertise, he was honored with the John Carroll Medal of Merit by Georgetown University. As part of his dedication to his field, Mr. Schmidt was a member of the President's Council for Physical Fitness and the National Advisory Board.

To support his community, Mr. Schmidt served as the chairman for So Others Might Eat. He is additionally active as the founder of the Vincent R. Lombardi Foundation. Mr. Schmidt was also a board member for the American Council of Young Political Leaders, the D.C. Boys and Girls Club Foundation and the Chernobyl Children's Foundation.

A self-professed overachiever, Mr. Schmidt attributes his success to his high school coaches, who helped to develop his work ethic.
