NORTH ADAMS, MA, March 22, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Charles Giuliano has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Giuliano initially pursued a formal education at Brandeis University, from which he graduated with a bachelor's degree in fine arts, with honors, in 1963. While living in New York in the mid 1960s he worked for art galleries and wrote for Arts Magazine and Avatar. An exhibition he curated was the basis for the Grove Press book Psychedelic Art. Well qualified in his field, Mr. Giuliano holds credentials in journalism and fine arts, and completed all but his dissertation toward a Doctor of Philosophy in art history from Boston University.
Mr. Giuliano has found success as a publisher and editor for Berkshire Fine Arts since 2006. Throughout the course of his career, he has written for various well-known publications, including Art News, Art New England, the Boston Phoenix and The Boston Herald Traveler. He previously served as an adjunct professor at both Boston University and the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Likewise, Mr. Giuliano taught and performed duties as the director of the gallery program at Suffolk University. He was a jazz and rock and roll critic.
Heavily involved in the arts as a critic and activist, Mr. Giuliano published "Counterculture in Boston 1968 – 1980s" in 2019 and "Museum of Fine Arts Boston, 1870 to 2020: An Oral History" in 2021. The publication of this book, which consists of a compilation of interviews from all of the Museum of Fine Arts directors from the 1950s to the present, is one of his proudest accomplishments. Likewise, Mr. Giuliano received Brandeis' Edgar V.M. Gilbert Award for his academic achievements.
Mr. Giuliano recently contributed to a major catalogue for the Toyko exhibition of Kathleen Jacobs published in three languages. In addition to his myriad of publications in a variety of journals and papers, he is the author of "Shards of a Life," "Ultra Cosmic Gonzology," "Topsy Turvy," "Gloucester Poems" "Total Gonzo Poems" and more. In 1970 he coined the word gonzo which he was the first to publish. He is a member of the International Society of Art Critics and the National Arts Club. For several years, Mr. Giuliano acted as a member of the executive committee of the American Theater Critics Association.
