BOAZ, AL, March 25, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Beverly Head has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After a tenured career as a Home Economics teacher, Ms. Head found success with her local fabric store where she was able to purchase supplies locally. It takes a variety of supplies such as fabrics, thread, crinoline and weights to design and construct house hold decorator items such as draperies, roman shades and many other items. She has had an on line store.
Ms. Head retired from education in 1993 after more than 30 years in the classroom at which time she began her business making draperies, pillows, duvets, bed skirts and roman shades for customers in her spare time. She began this business to provide more products and services to others, while elevating her earning potential. Among these services she continues to produce various sewing projects for customers.
Aside from her primary responsibilities, Ms. Head has been organizing bus trips for the senior citizens in her community following her husband's death in 2013. She has also lead group tours for widows like herself and senior citizens who were interested in visiting New York City. These trips have given these residents a sense of comfort and have served as unique, therapeutic experiences for those seeking companionship. Additionally, she contributes her time and expertise as a volunteer at her local church and with Altrusa International Inc., an international non-profit organization that focuses on community service. During the pandemic, she volunteered her time by sewing hundreds of face masks which were distributed through the county for free.
Ms. Head, in her spare time, also published a children's book: "Andrews Christmas Dream." The book is third grade level and is a good source for the classroom since it features questions and activities. Her grandchildren asking her to tell them stories inspired her to write the book.
Attributing much of her success in work and life to teaching, Ms. Head especially wanted to help young girls and boys to live more productive lives so that they could acquire good jobs an eventually own their homes and be more equipped to deal with ownership. She believed that teaching home economics was the best way for her to teach essential life skills to others. Ms. Head notably obtained a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1961 from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. In 1972 she obtained a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama.
In 2022 Ms. Head was recognized as Ms. Super Sr. Alabama at the age of 82. Hesitant about applying for the first competition, in 2015 she was Ms. Sr. Marshall County. Looking forward to the future, she aims to maintain her health by being active and continuing on her mission of helping others, serving as a catalyst for local widows and senior citizens.
