PEABODY, MA, March 30, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Melissa Guevin has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mrs. Melissa Guevin is the owner and operator of The Dogmother, LLC in Peabody, Massachusetts, a dog daycare and boarding facility that is located in and on the property of her home. The facility offers a huge, full-fenced outdoor space where visiting pets can roam, run and play, as well as a warm, indoor space for relaxing, eating and sleeping. She and her team also provide grooming and basic training commands as well as discipline so dogs learn to be social, polite and confident while in their care. The team also makes every dog feel safe and comfortable during their stay. In addition to her primary responsibilities, Melissa offers pick up and drop off services in certain areas, and home visit services on behalf of cats, to care for them while their owners are away, as well as watering houseplants and collecting mail.

As a child, Melissa had a passion for animals, especially dogs. When she was 12 years old she started her own little dog walking and cat sitting business where she took care of the neighborhood pets but never thought to make it a career. She always knew she wanted to work with animals, but just didn't know how or what to do. She thought about being a vet, but since academics was difficult for her, she decided to go to college to study communications and follow her other passion for writing and journalism. When she was about 18 years old, Melissa's mother came home and told her about a doggy daycare in Stoneham; Melissa couldn't believe such a thing existed. She applied for the job and was hired right away; that was when Melissa discovered what she wanted to do with her life.
Due to the overwhelming success of her business, Melissa anticipates opening a second location in the coming years. Prior to opening The Dogmother, LLC on May 2, 2013, she worked for two other doggy daycares, a groomer, then eventually became co-owner and operated Playful Paws Inc. in Malden, Massachusetts from 2007 to 2013. Long dedicated to the plight of animals, Melissa is dedicated to educating owners and raising awareness regarding proper and responsible care for their dogs.

Not only does Melissa tend to her clients' dogs but also serves as a foster for homeless dogs. A compassionate and caring "dogmother," she works closely with Everett Animal Control Officer, Stacia Gorgone. Melissa takes in stray, abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and begins evaluating, training and/or rehabilitating them while she houses them for a 7-day stray hold. After the stray hold is up, she takes them to the vet to get updated on vaccines, spayed or neutered until she can find them their "furever" home. Some are adopted quickly, some take months, some even years before they get adopted. Melissa also works with a few local rescues such as Sweet Paws Rescue, Bullied Breeds Rescue and Cape Anne Animal Aid; all help her find these dogs homes. When there is an unexpected emergency situation, Melissa spearheads a GoFundMe on social media to help raise immediate funds to keep the animal alive so it doesn't have to be euthanized. She also finds other creative ways to raise money; she hosts a fun night out with live music and raffles, or a photo fundraiser during holidays. Salem Saves Animals, a non-profit 501c3, has been a huge help by supporting Melissa and her team by paying off vet debt. For this and other contributions to her local community, in October of 2021, Melissa, along with a few other dedicated rescuers, were recognized with a Citation from the Everett City Council along with the Mayor for her dedication to rescuing and saving animals in Everett and beyond.

In February of 2018, a dog that was thrown out of a car on Rte. 16 in Everett, MA. Animal Control arrived and rushed the small dog to the vet and informed Melissa of this emergency situation. This prompted her to set up the GoFundMe and thankfully was able to raise enough funds to keep the dog alive and safe. His leg needed to be amputated; Melissa took care of him after surgery and eventually his owner was found. The dog had been stolen from his owner, a truck driver, who was spending a night in Everett after a long drive to deliver goods. The man was so thankful and appreciative for everyone's help. For this, Melissa and the other good Samaritans were awarded with a Citation from the Mayor of Everett, Carlo DeMaria, for their Selfless Rescue Efforts.

Contributing much of her time and expertise to charitable ventures, Melissa volunteered with the Massachusetts State Police at the Stoneham Zoo to care for their horses at the age of 14. She fostered for Kick Ass K-9 rescue between 2012 and 2016. Through her business, she has donated numerous gift certificates on behalf of drug awareness fundraisers, cancer research for children in honor of Ella's Army, and countless other organizations. For four years in a row since 2018 she has been voted Best Pet Care Professional with bestofsurveys.com.

When Melissa is not with the dogs she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is a mother of 2 little girls and may be expecting a third child in the near future. She enjoys traveling when she can and laughing and creating warm and fun memories with her loved ones.
