With many years of experience to his credit, Dr. Jones presently serves as a professor at Liberty University. Specializing in nuclear engineering, physics, and mathematics, he is a member of the original American Nuclear Society chapter. In addition to holding two master's degrees, Dr. Jones also graduated from seminary with a doctorate in Biblical Studies.
Prior to entering the academic field, Dr. Jones began his career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. For his last 10 years in the Army, he worked as a counter weapons of mass destruction officer. His career culminated at the Defense Threat Reduction University, where he served as the academic dean and branch chief. Dr. Jones retired in 2015 with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was decorated more than 40 times in his career, the highest of which was the bronze star medal. He was also Sapper, Airborne, and Air Assault qualified. He is a proud member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Dr. Jones is inspired by his mother, a teacher, and his father, a petroleum engineer, to seek opportunities in science, technology, and education. He has taught at several institutions of higher learning and provides free tutoring for his neighborhood and surrounding area. He volunteers in his church's audio-visual ministry and supports several others.
Dr. Jones attributes much of his success to his wife and constant companion, and to the mentors who have guided him throughout his life and career. The support that they provide allows him to mentor his own students, as well as both of his children who are active in their own STEM studies in both high school and college. Looking toward the future, Dr. Jones aspires to continue his work in education and inspire others to love God and science as well.
