Marquis Who's Who Honors Troilen Seward with Inclusion in Who's Who in the World

Troilen Seward currently serves as a board member for the Virginia Literacy Foundation and the Virginia Retirement System.

After working for more than ten years as an elementary and high school teacher and principal, Ms. Seward decided to further her formal education and follow her lifelong passion of studying psychology. Having initially obtained a bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary, she later earned a Master of Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and an Education Specialist degree from the College of William and Mary.

Ms. Seward subsequently accepted a position as a psychologist in the Peninsula Child Development Clinic in Newport News, Virginia. Having excelled in this role, she was recruited as a school psychologist for the Dinwiddie Public School in 1982. Soon thereafter, she advanced to the role of the director of special education for the Dinwiddie Public Schools, after which she was appointed as the superintendent in 1996. Having retired professionally in 2001, she has been active as an education lobbyist since 2002. Moreover, Ms. Seward currently serves as a board member for the Virginia Literacy Foundation and the Virginia Retirement System.

A respected voice in her field and within her community, Ms. Seward has participated on the human rights committee for the Southside Training Center, and has been prolific as a consultant throughout her career. Since 1971, she has made strides as a trustee for the Ritchie Memorial Church in Claremont, Virginia, and was elected the mayor of the town of Claremont for several years. Amongst her numerous accomplishments, she is incredibly proud of her involvement in the bill passed by the Virginia legislature that successfully removed corporal punishment from schools in Virginia. Additionally, she considers having worked closely with numerous exceptional children as a highlight of her career. For her inimitable work, Ms. Seward was presented with the Outstanding Advocate Award from the National Association of School Psychologists in 2016.
