SOUTHPORT, CT, April 08, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present John E. Herzog with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Herzog celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Joining Herzog, Heine Geduld Inc. in 1959, shortly after graduating from college, Mr. Herzog played an integral role in the success of his father's business. Founded in 1926, the Nasdaq market-making firm notably went from roughly four trades per day to over 450,000 on a daily basis, while employment skyrocketed to approximately 750 individuals in the U.S. and London. Having chaired the organization for more than four decades, Mr. Herzog eventually sold the company to Merrill Lynch in 2000 for nearly $1 billion.

Prior to joining the family business, Mr. Herzog garnered experience with a New York Stock Exchange firm from 1957 to 1959. Years later, he served as a charter member of its regulatory policy advisory committee in 1981. Mr. Herzog has also been active on numerous boards, including the Alexander Hamilton Awareness Society, the Pequot Library in Southport, Connecticut, the Fairfield Museum and History Center in Fairfield, Connecticut, and the Lower Manhattan Historical Association.

Mr. Herzog has worked on the economic education committee of the New York district of the Securities Industry Association. Furthermore, he has been active on the national board of directors of the Smithsonian Institution. Among his many other civic interests, Mr. Herzog has lent his expertise to the board of directors for the Resources for Children with Special Needs, the board of regents for the Long Island College Hospital, the board of overseers for the New York University Stern School of Business, and as a New York City trustee for Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Among his civic accomplishments, Mr. Herzog is best known as founder, and for serving as the chair of the Museum of American Finance in New York City, now emeritus. Established as the Museum of American Financial History in 1988 shortly after the stock market crash of 1987, the nonprofit museum is the only independent public museum of its kind in America. Since its founding, the Smithsonian Institution-affiliated organization has achieved renown as an invaluable resource for enhancing the public's understanding of American capital markets. Mr. Herzog also established the Wall Street Coin, Currency and Collectible Show, an annual event that took place at the Museum of American Finance for several years.

A published writer, Mr. Herzog authored "A Billion to One" in 2017, an account of Herzog Heine Geduld Inc.'s success that has received a wealth of positive reviews. Notably, copies have also been requested by the New York University Stern School of Business and by Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Mr. Herzog acquired a Bachelor of Arts at Cornell University in 1957, followed by postgraduate coursework at the New York Institute of Finance during 1958. He later returned to college, where he attained a Master of Business Administration in Management at NYU Stern in 1970.

Mr. Herzog attributes much of his success to his wife, Diana, for always supporting him. Diana previously served as the president of R.M. Smythe & Co. Inc., a stock research and appraisal services company where Mr. Herzog was the chairman between 1962 and 2008. In light of his achievements, he received recognition as the visionary founder of the Museum of American Finance and for his more than three decades of service during a virtual presentation at the Museum of American Finance Gala in 2022.
