Bruce H. Cagenello, CCIM, CRB, GRI, Recognized for Contributions to the Field of Real Estate

Mr. Cagenello retired from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties after 50 years of excellence

WALLINGFORD, CT, April 08, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bruce H. Cagenello has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After accruing more than five decades of experience in the fields of residential and commercial real estate, Mr. Cagenello retired from his position as a Realtor at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices (BHHS) New England Properties in 2021. Initially joining the company after working with the Prudential Real Estate Group between 1990 and its acquisition by BHHS in 2012, he was lauded by his coworkers and managers for his consistent commitment to professionalism and high ethical standards while working with a variety of clients. Prior to his acquisition by Prudential, he distinguished himself with the CARECO Group, which is an acronym for CAgenello REal estate Consulting Group (company) in 1985. After earning his real estate broker's license in 1971, Mr. Cagenello began his career in the field as the co-owner of Westledge Associates, a prominent real estate company with offices in multiple locations. Also, Westledge Associates was the Official Realtor of the Hartford Whalers (professional hockey team).

Outside of his primary career endeavors, Mr. Cagenello has served on behalf of his field through a number of relevant organizations. To wit, he sat as the chairman of the Connecticut Real Estate Commission, Department of Consumer Protection (first appointed by Governor William O'Neill, then Governor Meskill, then Governor Rowland and then Governor Rell). Mr. Cagenello was also appointed by Governor Meskill to the Governor's task force on Housing and as the president of the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors in 1982 and 1999. Furthermore, he maintained affiliation as a member of the National Association of Realtors, the University of Connecticut Real Estate Advisory Council, (and formerly on the University of Hartford Associates Board) and the Simsbury Zoning Board of Appeals. Likewise, he functioned as the president of the Stratton Forest Homeowners Association for six years.

Before embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Cagenello studied pre-law at the University of Connecticut, from which he attained a Bachelor of Arts in 1959 (Government) and served for four years with the Reserve Officer Training Corps. He first became involved in the field of real estate out of a longstanding appreciation for the field, as well as the conviction that he could work on behalf of others to solve various problems they were facing. Reflecting his commitment to helping others, Mr. Cagenello was elected as a Justice of the Peace in the State of Connecticut, a position through which he married many young couples across the span of two decades. He was also elected to the Simsbury Zoning Board of appeals for 6 years. He was hired as an expert witness on a few superior court cases.

Among his career accomplishments, Mr. Cagenello is very proud to have received a proclamation by former Governor Jodi Rell, who declared May 2, 2007 to be "Bruce Cagenello Day" in Connecticut. Likewise, to commemorate his other accomplishments in the field, he was bestowed with numerous accolades, including recognition as the Commercial Broker of the Year, the Realtor of the Year and the Individual Partner of the Year by the University of Connecticut Center for Real Estate. Other honors to Mr. Cagenello's credit include the National Commercial Award from the National Association of Realtors in 2013, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the CCIM Institute, a Public Service Award from the Connecticut Secretary of State (Susan Bieciewicz who is now deputy Governor State of CT), and a Distinguished Award for 50 Years of Service from BHHS New England Properties.

Bruce also taught Principles of Real Estate Practice (a pre-licensing course) for a few years (initiated by the Connecticut Association of Realtors).

Bruce and his wife were co-presidents of the Tariffville (CT) Parent Teachers Association (PTO). Bruce, a Realtor Emeritus, is also a Mason, Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner.

In accounting for his success, Mr. Cagenello credits the support of his family and coworkers, as well as the love of his life, Dody. Together, they are the proud parents of three children, through whom they have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. As present, they are residents of Masonicare at Ashlar Village (Wallingford, CT). He and Dody are very pleased with their lifestyle now (at ages 84 and 83), enjoying many activities, good care, good food and many exceptional friends.
