GOODWATER, AL, April 26, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Edd "Rusty" Mascari has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Prior to beginning his career, Mr. Mascari served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as a telecommunication systems operator from 1979 to 1986. After working for two years in ground communications at Barksdale Air Force Base, he was granted an opportunity to join the airborne communications mission, attaining the assignment two years ahead of recommended schedule after a strong endorsement from a vice commander. During his seven years of service, Mr. Mascari served in direct presidential support as a crew member on the National Emergency Airborne Command Post.
As a veteran committed to pursuing a career in law enforcement, Mr. Mascari completed a program in communications with the Community College of the Air Force in 1986. When hired by the Alexander City Police Department in 1989, he completed the Alabama Police Academy at the Alabama Criminal Justice Training Center in 1990. Mr. Mascari is Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) certified and accrued a certification from the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission.
Mr. Mascari began his three-year career as a technical support specialist for Russell Corporation after his service in 1986. He then worked up through the ranks to Lieutenant with the Alexander City Police Department, a tenure in which he was honored with Police Officer of the Year by Alexander City in 1994. Moreover, Mr. Mascari was mentored by many gifted professionals including Joe Baldassano, the patrol sergeant at Cass County, NE Sheriff's Office. Joe Baldassano was a former police officer at Washington, D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department and a veteran of the Army's Military Police Corps who served in the military during the Vietnam War.
Seeking to advance to more administrative roles after his tenure as a police officer, Mr. Mascari accepted a position as a revenue officer for the city in 2001. Since 2005, he has been a special investigator with the Alabama Licensing Board for General Contractors. In this capacity, he conducts compliance visits in accordance with Title 34, Chapter 8 of the Code of Alabama, also known as the "general contractor's license law." He appreciates this different form of law enforcement, allowing for less action-oriented work and more civil commitment to protect both the consumer and the contractor.
Mr. Mascari intends to retire from the state at the start of 2023, working part time with his local sheriff's office. This will allow him more time to spend relaxing and enjoying the fruits of his career.
