Dr. Spencer Durham intends to become a full professor at Auburn University and continue to stress the importance of the correct usage of antibiotics.
AUBURN, AL, April 26, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Spencer Durham has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Durham pursued pre-pharmacy studies at Auburn University before earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the same academic institution in 2007. Upon graduation, he completed a post-graduate year one residency at Children's Health System in Birmingham, Alabama. After completion of his residency, he worked as a clinical pharmacist specialist with Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola, Florida between 2008 to 2013. Since 2013, Dr. Durham has worked as a faculty member at his alma mater, Auburn University's Harrison College of Pharmacy.
Backed by his professional excellence, Dr. Durham currently excels as a clinical pharmacist specialist in infectious diseases for the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System and as the Director of Alumni & Professional Affairs and Associate Clinical Professor at Auburn University's Harrison College of Pharmacy. Through his various roles, he served on the governor of Alabama's COVID-19 task force, and teaches a variety of different courses related to infectious diseases at the Harrison College of Pharmacy. Driven to further his education, Dr. Durham holds a dual board certification as a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and a Board Certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacist through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Durham is affiliated with the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, the Alabama Society of Health System Pharmacists, and the Alabama Pharmacy Association. For his professional achievements, he has been honored on many occasions, accepting the Outstanding Teacher Award at the Harrison College of Pharmacy in 2020. He has also been recognized as the Mahlon G. Turner Pharmacy Fellow in Outreach in 2021. He is incredibly proud of being able to teach students and other clinicians about antimicrobial stewardship and infectious diseases.
