To prepare for her professional journey, she earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry from Jacksonville State University in 2015 and attained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from South College School of Pharmacy in 2018. Additionally, Dr. Smith is a member of the Rho Chi Honor Society, American Society of Health System Pharmacists, and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.
Dr. Smith began her career as a pharmacy technician for CVS Pharmacy in 2012, during which she completed her undergraduate degree and made the decision to pursue pharmacy school. Upon finishing her doctorate and becoming licensed she joined PharMerica as a long-term care pharmacist in 2018 where she focused on geriatric care. She has recently transitioned to specialty infusion as director at ContinuumRx in 2022. In this new role, she is responsible for overseeing and monitoring intravenous compounds and medications including antibiotic, IVIG, and total parenteral nutrition therapies to patients at home and in facilities. Furthermore, Dr. Smith is a preceptor for South College and Belmont pharmacy students, seeking to cultivate the passion of the next generation as they become professional pharmacists.
Committed to providing the best possible care on behalf of patients, Dr. Smith has always been more interested in the medicinal side of healthcare and optimizing patient therapies. She has a passion for maximizing patient outcomes by collaborating with the patient and other healthcare professionals to evaluate pharmacological treatments along with lifestyle modifications and non-pharmacological implementations to improve quality of life.
