With over 40 years of experience, Ms. Keever enjoyed a fulfilling career as an author, professor, journalist and a Vietnam War correspondent. Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she pursued an education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and political science in 1957. She continued her academic efforts at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where she earned a Master of Science in Journalism in 1958. She concluded her scholastic endeavors at the University of Hawaii in Manoa, graduating with a Master of Library Science in Information Studies, and a doctorate in American Studies. Ms. Keever is affiliated with several industry-related organizations, including the Society of Professional Journalists and Investigative Reporters and Editors.

Beverly Deepe began her career as a journalist and a Vietnam War correspondent between 1962 and 1968. She was eventually distinguished as a professor emerita at the University of Hawaii in Manoa, where she taught journalism and communications for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2008. Moreover, she has authored such works as "News Zero: The New York Times and the Bomb" in 2004 and "Death Zones and Darling Spies: Seven Years of Vietnam War Reporting" in 2013. Additionally, Ms. Keever's coverage of the Vietnam War was published in several prominent newspapers, including the New York Herald Tribune, Newsweek, the Christian Science Monitor, the Associated Press, the Omaha World Herald and the London Daily Express.

Esteemed for her contributions to the field, Ms. Keever has received multiple accolades, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Professional Journalists in Hawaii, the Outstanding News Editorial Alumna Award from the University of Nebraska Journalism Alumna Association, the Regents Medal for Excellence in Teaching from the University of Hawaii, the Hawaii Governor's Award for Distinguished State Service and a Pulitzer Prize nomination for her reporting about Khe Sanh. Among her professional accomplishments, she wrote the series of articles for the Christian Science Monitor from the outpost of the Khe Sanh Combat Base that led to her Pulitzer Prize nomination. She attributes much of her success to her dedicated work ethic instilled by her parents, whose hard work built a strong foundation and paved the road for success via a higher education for her and her sister.
