Beverly Deepe began her career as a journalist and a Vietnam War correspondent between 1962 and 1968. She was eventually distinguished as a professor emerita at the University of Hawaii in Manoa, where she taught journalism and communications for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2008. Moreover, she has authored such works as "News Zero: The New York Times and the Bomb" in 2004 and "Death Zones and Darling Spies: Seven Years of Vietnam War Reporting" in 2013. Additionally, Ms. Keever's coverage of the Vietnam War was published in several prominent newspapers, including the New York Herald Tribune, Newsweek, the Christian Science Monitor, the Associated Press, the Omaha World Herald and the London Daily Express.
Esteemed for her contributions to the field, Ms. Keever has received multiple accolades, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Professional Journalists in Hawaii, the Outstanding News Editorial Alumna Award from the University of Nebraska Journalism Alumna Association, the Regents Medal for Excellence in Teaching from the University of Hawaii, the Hawaii Governor's Award for Distinguished State Service and a Pulitzer Prize nomination for her reporting about Khe Sanh.
