Following a long and distinguished career in accounting, Mr. Petyak transitioned fully into academia in 2010 as an assistant professor of accounting at the University of Pittsburgh. Specializing in accounting, he previously worked for numerous years in both public and private accounting, having served as a senior controller for Crown American Properties from 1979 to 2004. Mr. Petyak subsequently worked as an accounting manager on behalf of the Cresson Community Bank from 2004 to 2009. He continues to serve clients in his own firm – Greg J. Petyak CPA.
Mr. Petyak initially found success in higher education when he began teaching part-time as an adjunct assistant professor of accounting at his alma mater, Saint Francis University, in 1988. During his 20-year tenure on campus, he also received a master's degree in his field to elevate his career. To pursue his professional goals, Mr. Petyak initially received a Bachelor of Science in accounting and a Master of Business Administration in accounting and finance at Saint Francis University in 1973 and 2004, respectively.
A leader in his community, Mr. Petyak is presently an active parishioner and member of the finance council at Holy Family Church. He has also served as a volunteer and board member of Junior Achievement, as the treasurer of the Portage Area Development Association, and as a member of the volunteer speakers' bureau of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Looking toward the future, Mr. Petyak aspires to remain active locally and through various nonprofit initiatives in the coming years.
Mr. Petyak has remained active in his professional community through memberships with several relevant organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
