Mr. Grant serves as the founding director and curator of Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art

Hugh Grant has become well-known for his contributions to preserving and promoting the history of Colorado and regional art, from Realism through Postmodern.

DENVER, CO, May 16, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hugh Grant has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After creating Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art in Denver in 1996, and opening to the public in 2003, Mr. Grant holds the title of Founding Director & Curator. Mr. Grant was inspired by his late friend and painter, Vance Kirkland, while also being mentored by the former director of the Denver Art Museum (1944–1974) Otto Bach and his wife Cile. Kirkland Museum features more than 150 years of international decorative art and work by Colorado and regional artists, comprised of over 33,000 works by more than 1,500 artists. Its significant collections include many works of Mr. Kirkland, which Mr. Grant began managing and curating long before his passing in 1981. Upon Mr. Kirkland's death, Mr. Grant was appointed as the executor of his estate, because Kirkland's wife had predeceased him, and Mr. Grant made it his mission to continue preserving and promoting Kirkland's portfolio of artwork.

Mr. Grant established Kirkland Museum to highlight the many talented artists throughout the state of Colorado. Over the years, he has increased and refined his collections and has become well-known for his contributions to preserving and promoting the history of Colorado and regional art, from Realism through Postmodern. During his tenure in the industry, Mr. Grant also has loaned dozens of pieces of artwork to institutions throughout the state of Colorado, the United States and the world. In 2018, the success of his museum led to its relocation to a much larger facility, which encompasses over 38,000 square feet of space.

In addition to overseeing Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art, Mr. Grant serves as an adjunct curator of the Kirkland Collection in the modern and contemporary art department at the Denver Art Museum. He has also provided his expertise by contributing numerous articles to various art books, catalogs, magazines, and other art-related materials and publications. Aside from his commitments in the art industry, he has been deeply engaged in classical and jazz music, producing phonograph records. During his earlier career, Mr. Grant notably worked for a local sound company as an audio technician, then ran his own company, Paragon Productions.

Mr. Grant also served as the executive director of The Artist and The Muse—Dreamspace, a ballet that was performed by Colorado Ballet and was aired on PBS stations. He subsequently served as the executive director for two art documentaries that also aired on PBS stations. Additionally, he had the opportunity to appear on three episodes of HGTV's "Hey Remember" and the PBS television series "Antiques Roadshow," which was recorded at Kirkland Museum in 2009.

Mr. Grant received a Heartland Emmy Award for Best Entertainment Program in 2000 for his contributions, including writing the scenario and selecting all the music, to The Artist and The Muse—Dreamspace. He also accepted several other honors for his on-air contributions including a Bronze Chris Award, a Silver CINDY and others. He has been recognized with multiple awards for his contributions, including a 2009 Arts and Humanities Award from the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation and a 2000 Historic Denver Award for his initiative, creativity, and commitment to preserving history and culture. Furthermore, Mr. Grant was honored as the 2000 Person of the Year by Life on Capitol Hill as well as among Denver's Top 150 Honorees for his contributions as a citizen to the Mile High City.

Mr. Grant graduated in the class of 1963 at The Choate School in Connecticut, then initially studied at Tufts University in Massachusetts for two years before graduating from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1967. In 2003, he was the recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from the University of Denver.
