An expert in construction management, Mr. Hafeli has been a leader in the paving industry for 37 years. He started in the industry serving as a field inspection and testing technician for 17 years. After working in this capacity, he transitioned into the manufacturing and construction side of the business working for Ajax Paving industries of Florida, LLC. In his current capacity as the President of Ajax, he manages an operation with approximately 450 employees. He oversees all construction operations, including manufacturing, safety protocols and the negotiation of contracts. Prior to joining Ajax, he earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Webster University in 2001.
Since his youth, Mr. Hafeli wanted to join the construction industry, and was particularly fascinated by bridges. While he was pursuing his undergraduate education, a professor encouraged him to apply for a part-time position at a company responsible for roadway inspection and testing. That was the start of a highly successful career. A diligent worker and effective communicator by nature, he was able to develop his skills and gain the necessary knowledge to continually advance his career.
Outside of his main career path, Mr. Hafeli serves on the executive committee as the treasurer for the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida. He also serves as the vice-chairman for the southeast region of the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA). In addition to his vice chairman position, he serves as a trustee on the NAPA Research and Education Foundation Board and is a member of NAPA's Legislative Committee. Known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen, his company volunteers with local homeless shelters and participates in walks for suicide awareness and prevention. He also volunteers to help maintain state parks and supports a local organization that assist single mothers in need.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Hafeli plans to continue leading Ajax. To further his expertise, he is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Business Administration degree at the University of South Florida, Tampa. His intention is to leave an impact in the industry in the area of suicide prevention and mental health awareness, departing a successful company when he eventually retires.
