Ann M. LaFeir Lauded for Excellence in Law

Ms. LaFeir channels years of experience into her current work in intellectual property law with USAA

    SAN ANTONIO, TX, May 27, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ann M. LaFeir has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. After earning a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering through Virginia Tech in 1995, Ms. LaFeir became an aerospace engineer with Allied Signal. After departing from the field to focus on a career in law, however, she attained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Seton Hall University School of Law in 2002. Over the years, she gained valuable expertise as an associate with Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto, a patent attorney with Lowenstein Sandler PC, an associate with Moser IP Law Group, the owner of Valdivia-LaFeir Law and a patent counsel with OFS Fitel LLC. In this last role, Ms. LaFeir managed the growth of patent portfolios across multiple locations, prepared and provided employee training covering all aspects of intellectual property, and developed corporate intellectual property policies, including harvesting IPs and trade secret retention.

Drawing on her considerable expertise, Ms. LaFeir works as a pro bono board advisor with Chosen Care, a nonprofit organization that provides education and therapeutic resources for adoptive families. She is also a legal advisor with The Pink Berets, another nonprofit providing support and resources to military women, and serves as the board chair of Faith and Funky Junk, a nonprofit that recently established a thrift store in Boerne, Texas. Additionally, Ms. LaFeir is a board member with the Association of Corporate Counsel, has served as the editor-in-chief for the Constitutional Law Review at Seton Hall University's School of Law, and excels as the senior IP counsel for USAA.

A registered patent attorney through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Ms. LaFeir holds a Master of Laws in litigation management from Baylor University's School of Law, in addition to her undergraduate and law degrees. To remain aware of changes in the field, she aligns herself with the National Association of Women Lawyers. Due to her professional accomplishments, she received the First Chair Award in 2018.
