Lili Loni Barsky, MD, Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Medicine

Dr. Barsky merges her creativity, determination, and humanity to uniquely advance the fields of S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)



    DEERFIELD, IL, June 07, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lili Loni Barsky, MD, MSAI, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Inspired by her family and driven to help others, Dr. Barsky earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, with a minor in Film and Media Studies, from Northwestern University. She continued her education at Rush University Medical Center, where she received her Doctorate of Medicine in 2014. Dr. Barsky underwent residency training at Yale University/Bridgeport Hospital, followed by a Chief Residency at AMITA Health Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. She was then selected for and completed the prestigious Women's Heart Fellowship Training Program, at the Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. To further apply her medical and engineering backgrounds, Dr. Barsky is now completing the Artificial Intelligence in Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Training and Master's Degree Program, at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.

Throughout her career, Dr. Barsky has gained valuable expertise in the fields of medicine and engineering. While in medical school, she developed the "Liability Intervention Logistical Innovation" (LILI) system, which aims to track and controls the spread of nosocomial infections and hospital environmental contamination, a technology for which she has been awarded two patents. She also co-directed the Rush Emergency Medical Interest Group and served as a consultant for Guardian, a system developed by Rush Hospital that identifies potential bioterrorism events or epidemics through surveillance. As a resident in the Yale New Haven Health System, she co-created a method for reducing the number of inappropriate troponin laboratory tests, for which she received the Improving Cardiovascular Health Outcomes Award at the 14th Annual American Medical Association's Research Symposium. During her tenure as Chief Resident, she served as a member of the Clinical Competency Committee, the Hospital Discharge/Throughput Committee, the Graduate Medical Education Committee, the Institutional Review Board and the Safety Event Classification Committee.

Drawing on years of professional expertise, Dr. Barsky excels today as a critical care hospitalist physician. Extracurricularly, she serves as a consultant for the Hollywood, Health & Society Program at the University of Southern California, an AI co-investigator for multiple projects at Northwestern University, and as an academic tutor. Outside of her main career path, Dr. Barsky is also a passionate advocate. She wrote and illustrated a medical guide to enhance the quality of medical care and understanding for individuals with special needs, for first responders, law enforcement, and other healthcare personnel. She is a lifetime member of Mensa.

To further commemorate her accomplishments, she was nominated for the Physician Excellence Award at NorthShore University Health System Skokie Hospital and won a Standing Ovation for Quality Service Award at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Looking towards the future, Dr. Barsky will be completing her clinical cardiology fellowship training and integrating her experience in engineering and artificial intelligence to further the field of patient care.
