PHOENIX, AZ, June 03, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Linda Lou McCall has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Linda Lou McCall (née Bolden), a native of Washington, D.C., began her career in the music industry while studying Drama at Howard University. While still a student, she worked as a photographer for the Grammy Award winner trio The Delfonics. After graduating from Howard with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Linda Lou relocated to Memphis, TN to work at Stax Records, home to R&B artists Isaac Hayes, Rufus Thomas and The Bar-Kays. After only a few years there, Stax Records suddenly filed for bankruptcy, an event that had a profound effect on Linda Lou. Realizing there was more to the music industry than just the artistic aspect, she decided to return to school to study law in order to help minority artists in contracts, copyrights and trademarks. She began with her husband's band, Mercury Records artists Con Funk Shun where she worked as booking agent, tour manager, recording production assistant, album cover designer, liner notes author, stylist and even songwriter. One of her songs "Bad Lady," recorded by Con Funk Shun, made the Top 20 on Billboard magazine's Top R&B Singles charts.

In the early 1990s, Linda Lou became General Manager for rap superstar MC Hammer's Oakland, CA-based Bust It Management & Productions and later Vice President of Special Projects for Bust It Records Inc., a subsidiary of Capitol Records, in Hollywood, CA.

After relocating to Atlanta, GA in 1994, she expanded her music publishing company, Exxtra Foxx Music LLC, to include marketing and promotion. Her clients included the Black Eyed Peas, Mya, Eminem, Tupac, Jay Z, TLC, Destiny's Child, Will Smith, Mariah Carey, Puff Daddy, Notorious B.I.G., Missy Elliott, etc.

A multiplatinum-selling songwriter, Linda Lou continues to excel as a successful contracts negotiator for hip hop artists and producers. Her main focus remains in raising awareness among aspiring minority artists in the BUSINESS of music. A voting member of The Recording Academy ("Grammy Awards") for more than 40 years, Linda Lou is also a songwriter and publisher with Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI). One of her songs "Kush" was on Lil Wayne's 2008 multi-Platinum Grammy Award winning album "Tha Carter 3."

Linda Lou has appeared in several music documentaries, including "Howard Theater: A Century in Song" (PBS) and two episodes of "Unsung," (TVOne) which focused on The Delfonics and Con Funk Shun. To commemorate her accomplishments, she earned the Unsung Heroine Award through the National R&B Music Society and received the Lifetime Achievement Award through the Music Business Empowerment Conference in 2021, as well as being featured in People magazine as one of the "50 Most Beautiful Women Over 50" (May 7, 2007). She has also been honored with over a dozen Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Gold, Platinum and Diamond award plaques for her contribution to music projects for artists like Lil Wayne, Rihanna, Logic, Eminem and Diddy.

In a career filled with highlights, Linda Lou is most proud of having one of her celebrity photographs as part of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History & Culture Apollo Theater exhibition "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing" (2010-2012).

Linda Lou currently lives in Phoenix, AZ with her two children, former police officer Lindsay McCall Long and luxury real estate agent Louis Anthony McCall II, along with her grandchildren Liam Richard Long and Ella McCall Long. Her husband Louis A. McCall Sr, Con Funk Shun founder and drummer, passed away in June 1997.
