Ms. Miguel earned an Associate of Science in computer programming from Solano Community College, after which she attained a Bachelor of Science in management from St. Mary's College of California in 1998. Ms. Miguel started her professional journey as a respiratory therapist, but was laid off shortly after becoming a single parent. In researching the job market, she saw the growing opportunity for computer programmers in the Information Technology (IT) industry. In order to keep pace with the technology, she enrolled as a full-time student and pursued an education in computer programming, wherein she found an affinity for the work.
In 1980 Ms. Miguel began her IT career as a programmer analyst for the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PGE). In this position she developed and maintained computer programs for the Economics and Forecasting Department, for their mainframe system using Programming Language 1 (PL1). After five years, Ms. Miguel joined Chevron Information Technology Company (CITC) working in the Human Resource/Benefits Systems as a senior programmer analyst. As the IT industry moved towards client server technology, she worked as a conversion/implementation analyst on CITC's corporate wide, Systems Application Program (SAP) implementation project. Ms. Miguel's tasks included converting the legacy systems to the client server technology utilizing Advance Business Application Programming (ABAP). From 1999 to 2002, she joined IBM Global Services as a SAP consultant working on SAP implementation and upgrade projects throughout the United States. Following this period, Ms. Miguel maintained involvement from 2003 until 2014 with a number of organizations as a consultant and associate specializing in SAP implementation/conversion, upgrade and production support projects utilizing her skills and experience in ABAP, SAPscript, and SMARTFORMS. In this timeframe, as a SAP consultant, she worked mainly in the Aerospace and Defense industry which included clients HR Textron, NASA, US Department of Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Sikorsky Aircraft and L3 Communications. Between 2014 and 2018, she served as a software engineer on behalf of the Northrop Grumman Corporation.
Ms. Miguel's longevity and keeping abreast of the continual evolving IT industry has made her highly experienced in application programming, analysis, design and development. Her proficiencies include developing technical specifications, unit test scripts, code sign-off, turnover documentation, investigative research for business development and developing programs for unit testing. Ms. Miguel attributes her success to her ability to work consistently, as well as perseverance and resourcefulness in finding solutions to unexpected problems that arise in projects. Furthermore, she takes pride in meeting deadlines both with her own projects and with those of her colleagues.
