Drawing on over five decades of expertise, Dr. Spencer specializes in institutional research and educational studies. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he pursued an education at the Ohio State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1983. He continued his academic efforts at Antioch University Midwest, earning a Master of Arts in management in 1998. Following this accomplishment, he concluded his scholarly endeavors at Benedictine University, attaining a Doctor of Education in higher education and organizational change in 2015.
As a commitment to his field, Dr. Spencer is a certified career counselor and has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the American Association of University Professors and the Disabled American Veterans organization.
Dr. Spencer began his career in the United States Army from 1970 to 1991, where he served as a Specialist Fourth Class, a Second Lieutenant and finally as a First Lieutenant for the U.S. Army Reserves. During this time, he held the post of a store manager at the Delaware Audio Video store from 1986 to 1993, before working as a senior customer care representative at Medical Mutual of Ohio since 1993. Additionally, between 1999 and 2003, he was active as an adjunct professor at Owens Community College, where he taught Microeconomics and American government. Dr. Spencer subsequently contributed to the Ohio Adjutant General's Department of the Ohio National Guard and the Ohio Military Reserve from 2006 until 2009, attaining the rank of Captain.
Since 2013, Dr. Spencer has found much success as an institutional research and education studies director at STEM Accelerated Coding Inc., an educational company that develops active learning products and incorporates physical activity through educational gaming applications by using special coding, satellite imagery, makerspace curriculums and circuit robots. In this role, he is responsible for researching and reporting on relevant statistical data.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Dr. Spencer has volunteered as an event coordinator at the Disabled American Veterans organization, where he attended conferences for elections of members and officers, distributed leaflets and information to the immediate community and coordinated public fund-raising events and activities for the disabled veterans. Among his professional accomplishments, he is most proud of obtaining his career counselor certification, his doctoral dissertation, and of his work on the NASA geospatial earth science project at STEM Accelerated Coding Inc. He attributes much of his success to his perseverance while overcoming adversity. Looking toward the future, Dr. Spencer aspires to resume teaching and hopes to expand the scope of his career by offering project management and business management courses to universities on an international level.
