CARMICHAEL, CA, July 14, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barbara Virginia Agnell has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An expert in working with emotionally disturbed, abused or neglected children and adolescents, Ms. Agnell has distinguished herself as a dedicated social worker and therapist for more than 30 years. She was originally inspired to become a social worker during the course of her youth, throughout which time she frequently cared for a disabled brother. Also as a child, Ms. Agnell heard stories from her mother regarding time she volunteered at an orphanage and this spurred her passion for working with neglected and troubled youth.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Agnell earned a Master of Social Work degree from California State University in 1988. Following this accomplishment, she began her career as a social worker for the Stanford Home for Children and in 1990 became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. After serving as Clinical Supervisor until 1997 she transitioned to Paradise Oaks Youth Services, becoming their Clinical Director until 2013. At both agencies Ms. Agnell supervised the treatment programs and carried out other clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Throughout this time frame, Ms. Agnell worked weekends in psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente Hospital. Primarily her duties consisted of assessing, diagnosing and determining placement needs for ER patients. Over the years Ms. Agnell also worked as a therapist in private practice and other agencies that specialized in the treatment of traumatized children and their families. In 2009, Ms. Agnell received the award for Social Worker of the Year by NASW – Sacramento Unit 'For Going Above And Beyond In The Workplace.'

In accounting for her success, Ms. Agnell credits her dedication and perseverance. Looking toward the future, her goal is to contribute more to improving the lives of disadvantaged and marginalized people. In particular, Ms. Agnell has an interest in housing for the elderly especially those, who like her brother, experience the additional challenges of special needs.
