WEST FARGO, ND, July 14, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Emily C. Huber-Johnson, PhD, ACSM-EP, EIM-II, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on over a decade of expertise, Dr. Huber-Johnson specializes in exercise science and nutrition. Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she pursued an education at South Dakota State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in health promotion in 2011, and a Master of Science in nutrition and exercise science and a graduate certificate in Transdisciplinary Childhood Obesity Prevention in 2013. She continued her academic efforts at South Dakota State University, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in nutrition and exercise science in 2017.
As a commitment to her field, Dr. Huber-Johnson has been certified as an Exercise Physiologist via the American College of Sports Medicine, Exercise is Medicine—Level II, first aid and cardio pulmonary resuscitation by the American Heart Association, culturally competent care via the United States Department of Health Services, and in adult mental health first aid. Additionally, she has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Regional Northland Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, and the International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity.
Dr. Huber-Johnson began her career at South Dakota State University, where she worked in a variety of roles, including health educator, a graduate teaching assistant, and a graduate research assistant. Between 2017 and 2018, she was active in her post as an assistant professor of kinesiology at Loras College. Since 2018, she has found much success as an assistant professor of exercise science at Concordia College, while concurrently serving as their exercise science program director as of 2019.
In this capacity, Dr. Huber-Johnson is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the exercise science curriculum, which includes determining the courses that are taught, the content to be covered, meeting objectives that the school is aligning itself with for accreditation and managing the operating budget. Likewise, she provides oversight for the human performance lab, works with the admissions and advancement offices, teaches classes, directs advisees, and participates as a member of the Health Professions Advisory Committee.
Well regarded for her contributions to the field, Dr. Huber-Johnson has been recognized as a Distinguished Promising Professional by South Dakota State University in 2022. Long dedicated to civic advocacy, she has volunteered at her local faith establishment and other organizations.
Dr. Huber-Johnson attributes much of her success to her mentors throughout her academic and professional journey. Looking toward the future, she aspires to expand the scope of her career as a tenured associate professor, while continuing to serve as the exercise science program director at Concordia College, and provide transformative learning experiences and mentorship to her past, present, and future students.
