Drawing on over four decades of diverse expertise, Mr. Erickson specializes in industrial control system design and retrofitting. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he pursued an education at California State University in Sacramento for electrical and electronics engineering. To show his commitment to his field, Mr. Erickson has been active with several organizations. These include being a System Integrator for Automation Direct and membership in the Bay Area Manufacturers Association (BAMA). Other affiliations include Pinellas Writers and Authors, and Toastmasters International.
Mr. Erickson began his working life serving in the United States Navy from 1973 to 1979. He trained and served as a Submarine Sonar Technician aboard two nuclear-powered Fast-Attack submarines. During his college years, he served in the United States Air Force Reserve as a Radar Technician. Following his military service, he served as a Field Service Engineer for Eaton Microlithography, then as a research assistant to Dr. Boitnott at Gasonics to develop plasma-based semiconductor wafer processing systems. He continued his career as an industrial control designer and programmer at Eidschun Engineering from 1995 until 2002. Since 2002, he has built a successful career as the president of Expert Automation Design Inc., an electronics shop specializing in retrofitting new control systems to existing, older industrial systems, as well as for new systems. Since 2019, he has succeeded as the founding owner and president of Clearwater Machining Inc., a machine shop specializing in plastic and non-ferrous metal machining services. In this capacity, Mr. Erickson handles business administration, oversight of four machinists, and solving technology-related problems.
In his leisure time, Mr. Erickson has authored such works as "Android Love" in 2019, "The Earth is Quarantined!" in 2016, "The Earth Shrugged" in 2016 and "Practical Integrity" in 2015, among others. He serves as Treasurer for Pinellas Writers and Authors of Pinellas. He has earned the level of Distinguished Toastmaster in Toastmasters International. Among his professional accomplishments, he is most proud of his persistence and integrity.
Mr. Erickson attributes much of his success to the expertise that he has garnered as a registered distributor at Amway, where he learned entrepreneurship and positive thinking. Likewise, he benefited richly from the support that he received from those he encountered along the path of his vocational journey. Looking toward the future, Mr. Erickson aspires to expand his machine shop business to six full-time machinists, and to transform his controls business into a consulting firm.
