During the early stages of his career, Mr. Porter worked as a geologist with Barrick Gold Corporation and held leadership roles in multiple companies in the commercial and medical construction sectors. Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, he earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho and then later in his career completed a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Southern Oregon University. Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Porter has also become a certified manager of quality and organizational excellence through the American Society for Quality, and received both a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and Kaizen Facilitator certification through the Management and Strategy Institute.
To remain aware of developments affecting his field, Mr. Porter maintains key industry memberships and relationships with his peers while actively seeking out and leveraging opportunities for innovation. He is a lifelong member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, holds membership in the American Society for Quality, and served on NIST's Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award board of examiners. In a career filled with many highlights, he is most proud of completing his Master of Business Administration while working full time and graduating at the top of his class after being inducted into multiple honor societies including Phi Kappa Phi, T10, and the Financial Management Association International.
