    STEUBENVILLE, OH, July 22, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rafael Schmulevich, FACC, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. With expertise in the field of cardiology, Dr. Schmulevich has been a leader in providing care for patients for more than 35 years. A naturally driven and disciplined person, his goal is to provide individualized care to patients while promoting cardiovascular health and wellness. Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, he earned a Doctor of Medicine from the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo in Argentina in 1983. He was inspired to pursue cardiology for his specialization by Dr. René Favaloro, an Argentine cardiac surgeon who successfully performed the very first coronary bypass surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in 1967.

In 1983, following his graduation, Dr. Schmulevich immigrated to the United States to pursue a residency in internal medicine at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, West Virginia. Following this period, he became the chief resident in internal medicine and Junior Faculty at West Virginia University. Later on, he completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at St. Francis Medical Center and UPMC-Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA in 1991.

Following his academic accomplishments, Dr. Schmulevich established his private practice, seeing patients for their various cardiology conditions. He also started working as a physician for Trinity Health System in 1991, which he continues presently, and became the owner of Heart Care Cardiology Consultants in 1995.

Dr. Schmulevich has also been the director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory for Trinity Health System since 2009. He oversees the daily operations for the catheterization laboratory, while serving as a physician mentor by teaching new residents and doctors at the hospital. Dedicated to providing excellent health care in his community, Dr. Schmulevich has earned through the years, the reputation and recognition by peers and patients of being one of the best cardiology practices in the Ohio Valley area.

Looking toward the future, Dr. Schmulevich plans to continue his clinical practice with Trinity Health System and to increase his involvement in academia to educate the next generation of physicians. In his own practice, due to lifestyle changes, he has partnered with other cardiologists to oversee his in-hospital patients keeping his focus on outpatient cardiology care and teaching.
