Bill Hulsey, JD, Recognized for Dedication to the Field of Intellectual Property Law

Mr. Hulsey serves as the principal attorney at Hulsey PC

AUSTIN, TX, July 26, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bill Hulsey, JD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Drawing on more than 35 years of expertise in his chosen field, Mr. Hulsey has earned distinction as the principal attorney at Hulsey PC. Established in 2003, the firm's overall area of expertise encompasses the width and breadth of intellectual property law and is singularly dedicated to protecting the commercial interests and innovations of its clients in the energy and power sectors, aerospace and transportation, electronics and computer technology, and the e-commerce marketplace. Focusing much of his efforts on the Southeast region of the United States (OK, AR, TN, MS, TX, AL, LA), Mr. Hulsey is committed to fostering the kind of innovation and competitive evolution that has transformed small communities into bustling technological metropolises. His early innovation experience hails from Dallas & Austin, Texas—innovative startups and tech companies; Northwest Arkansas—Bentonville [Walmart's global home], and Memphis, Tennessee—global transportation hub [FEDEX, BNSF Rail and the Mississippi Delta].

Among his career accomplishments, Mr. Hulsey is particularly proud to have obtained over 2,000 patents and 1,500 trademarks for a wide array of individuals and companies, including the Lockheed Martin Aerospace Corporation, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and the University of Texas, as well as hundreds of growing startup companies and inventors. Additionally, he has been instrumental in establishing the initial 100 patents required for disruptive technologies in single-crystal silicon solar cell fabrication technology, and in spearheading the U.S. Patent Office Pro Bono Inventor Assistance Program in Texas. For this, and other accomplishments, Mr. Hulsey has received numerous accolades, such as a consistent AV Preeminent rating through Martindale-Hubbell, a 10 out of 10 "superb" rating via Justia Lawyer Directory, and an Intellectual Property Award from International Advisory Experts in 2022. Furthermore, he has been listed among the Top 1% Most Honored Lawyers in America by the American Registry of Lawyers and Law Firms, BEST LAWYERS in America by Best Lawyers Magazine, and BEST LAW FIRMs by U.S News & World Report, and the best rated patent lawyer in Austin, TX, and Memphis, TN, among many other recognitions to his credit.

Outside of his primary endeavors, Mr. Hulsey serves as a Certified Economic Developer through the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in Washington, D.C. in the capacity of co-founder of EconoVention, LLC, established to be an IEDC Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO). Prior to his work in these roles, he served as a senior partner in some of America's most prestigious law firms (e.g., BakerBotts, DLA Piper and K&L Gates). Well-regarded for his scholarly prowess and vast contributions to the field, Mr. Hulsey notably authored "Creating, Managing, and Licensing Intellectual Property Assets," which took the form of tens of hours of video training courses on behalf of Stanford University.

Over the span of his career, Mr. Hulsey has credited much of his success to the strong technical foundation he established through many years of service to the U.S. Armed Forces, during which time he distinguished himself as a nuclear-trained engineering officer aboard the U.S.S. Jacksonville, a Los Angeles Class Fast Attack submarine, attaining Lieutenant Commander rank. In honor of his performance in this regard, he was bestowed with several medals and decorations, including the Navy Achievement Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal, among others. Following the conclusion of his uniformed service, Hulsey worked in an engineering capacity on behalf of the U.S. Army, where he was responsible for leading the development of various top-secret electronics intelligence projects.

Mr. Hulsey first sought an education at Rhodes College, where he received a Bachelor of Science in theoretical mathematics, with distinction, in 1977. He went on to study economics at the University of Virginia, graduating with a Master of Arts in 1983, and at Vanderbilt University Law School, from which he attained a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1987 with honors. Mr. Hulsey has been admitted to practice law on behalf of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Federal District Court for the Northern and Western Districts of Texas, the Texas and Tennessee Supreme Courts, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Mr. Hulsey has earned distinction as a committed member of Rotary International, for which he served as a president of the Austin Westlake chapter and as a board director of the Waco Texas Rotary Club, and Rotary International Economic Development Cadre. An avid supporter of the performing arts, he has been a member of the Grammy Award-winning Conspirare Symphonic Choir in Austin, Texas. On a professional level, Mr. Hulsey has maintained his affiliation with numerous economic development councils and relevant associations, believing such memberships to be vital to how one seizes opportunities to advance in their field.

Following his graduation from law school in 1987, Mr. Hulsey held the perception that the future of America's economic prosperity would be guided by emerging technologies and entrepreneurship. The laws governing the intellectual property rights of innovators would have to be strengthened and protected, and he steered his career efforts accordingly. Moving to Austin, Texas, he stood at the forefront of the technological wave in the areas of computer, wireless and aerospace technology. Today, he sees similar opportunities through technology-led, entrepreneur-based economic development through local communities of the Cotton Belt—Delta Region and the IEDC. Looking toward the future, Mr. Hulsey is excited by the possibilities that remain in emerging trends, and continues to support the virtues of entrepreneurship, scientific endeavor, and education, as well as prosperity enabling democratic principles.
