Drawing on over two decades of expertise, Dr. Harrison specialized in research and physics. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he pursued an education at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He continued his academic efforts at the University of New Hampshire, earning a master's degree in physics. Following this accomplishment, he concluded his scholarly endeavors at Tulane University of Louisiana in New Orleans, attaining a Doctor of Philosophy in 1972. Dr. Harrison began his career serving in the United State Army, after which he worked as a professor of physics in Venezuela for eight years. He continued his vocation as a physics professor at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia, and, later, at Hanover College in Indiana. From 1972 until his retirement in 1992, he found much success as a physicist at the Naval Surface Weapons Center. In this capacity, he specialized in research and the design of underwater anechoic coatings for submarines, and was responsible for conceiving and directing large pressure tanks for testing submarine devices, as well as originating a system of mine localizations and classification. In his career related endeavors, Dr. Harrison obtained five patents for his designs and wrote 31-refereed publications of his scholarly findings.

Among his professional achievements, Dr. Harrison is most proud to have built the Guidewave 2, a device that was used for testing anechoic coating, and of his original and novel engineering of electronics specifically designed for measurements. Outside of his main career path, he has also been active as a French horn musician. He attributes much of his success to his work ethic and the educational opportunities that arose along his professional journey. Looking toward the future, Dr. Harrison aspires to help the next generation in any possible capacity.
