HARAHAN, LA, July 28, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jason Wesley Harris, MBA, MSA, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 16 years of experience in his chosen field to his credit, Mr. Harris has found success as an independent contractor for a number of organizations. Bearing a particular specialization in managing federal grant applications after applying for public assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), he is primarily responsible for managing federal funds, providing technical assistance in obtaining eligibility for FEMA projects, project management, and facilitating the public assistance application process. He has most recently been a consultant and advisor working as a senior grants manager with CSRS Inc., a management consulting firm that primarily specializes in government advisory services, grant management, civil engineering, disaster recovery and infrastructure, to facilitate the recovery of Jefferson Parish, a parish in the State of Louisiana, from Hurricane Ida striking the state in 2021. In addition to his work with CSRS Inc., Mr. Harris serves as a technical assistance contractor with Serco Group plc. representing FEMA to state and local government public assistance applicants.

Mr. Harris initially became involved in his field due to his background in accounting and finance, having studied at both the University of South Carolina and the University of Phoenix during the early stages of his career. He received a Bachelor of Applied Science in retail management in 1992 and a Master of Business Administration in 2000, respectively. Following these accomplishments, he was hired by FEMA in the wake of the Hurricane Katrina disaster in 2005 to serve as a deputy comptroller, during which time he worked closely with the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Office of Management and Budget to attain and manage federal grant funding to the State of Louisiana in their disaster response and recovery. Continuing his service to FEMA, he went on to distinguish himself as a financial analytics unit lead from 2006 until 2008, and a senior financial analyst between 2008 and 2012. He also studied and trained to be a FAC-Level II federal contracting officer to be able to work with other contracting agencies using his knowledge of the proper federal, state, and local procurement policies in government contracting.

In 2012, Mr. Harris concluded his academic efforts at Strayer University, where he earned a Master of Science in Accounting, with a concentration in public accounting. After departing from FEMA, he embarked on his career as a technical advisor contractor, working with such companies as Royal Engineering & Consultants, Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. and Serco. His latest career move is becoming an independent contractor working under CSRS, Inc.'s various contracted organizations' disaster programs. His most notable work being the disaster program for the COVID-19 pandemic Non-Congregate Sheltering program that has been the most successful State of Louisiana program for housing the homeless population within the state. As a further commitment to his field, Mr. Harris notably served as a membership chairperson of the Association of Government Accountants and executive member of the Membership Committee of the World Trade Center of New Orleans. Meanwhile, outside of his primary endeavors, he serves as the president of the executive board for the Cypress Village Homeowners Association.

In accounting for his success, Mr. Harris credits his education and training, which laid the foundation for his future trajectory. In particular, he is most proud to have attained two graduate level degrees, and to have earned induction into the Golden Key International Honor Society in 2012. Looking toward the future, Mr. Harris aspires to become more involved in real estate and eventually retire. Throughout the course of his career, he has strived to conduct himself by the tenets of his motto; "life is a journey, not a destination."
