An expert in internal medicine and infectious diseases, Dr. Oster has been a dedicated physician for more than 40 years. Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, she earned a Bachelor of Science with distinction from the University of Colorado and a Doctor of Medicine from East Virginia Medical School in 1980. She subsequently underwent an internship with Riverside Regional Medical Center in 1981 and a residency at East Virginia Medical School in 1983. The same year, she also completed a residency at the VA Medical Center. In 1988, she completed her fellowship at the same institution. During her residency, she was honored with the Resident of the Year Award by the Martinez VAMC.
Following her academic accomplishments, Dr. Oster began her career working with John Muir Hospital Walnut Creek, Sutter Solano Hospital Vallejo and Brookside/Tenet Hospital San Pablo. She was simultaneously an infectious disease consultant for Doctors Hospital. In 1985, she worked at the AIDS clinic at the VA Clinic Martinez/Oakland until 1995, when she started a role as a hospitalist. Following this period, she served as a co-chairman for Tenet Hospital San Pablo for a year and also became the chief of the infection control committee for Doctors Hospital in 1990. Dr. Oster was also an assistant professor of medicine for the University of California Davis from 1985 to 1989.
From 1999 to 2006, Dr. Oster worked with Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. Since then, she has been the physician and owner of her practice, Oster Medical Group. Throughout the course of her career, she has contributed to and authored multiple journal articles. To remain aware of developments affecting her field, she is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine. To commemorate her accomplishments, Dr. Oster was honored with an America's Best in Medicine Award by the American Health Council in 2019. She strives to consistently listen to patients to ensure she is providing the best possible care for them. In her practice she has mentored and taught students who have gone on to make medicine their career.

Known for her contributions as a civic-minded citizen, she is the founder of Flock Walk for Cancer, which she started in 2021. Furthermore, Dr. Oster is a regular donor and volunteer with her local YMCA and took a mission trip to India in 2008 as well as the Medical Reserve Corp. Dr Oster has volunteered at local events administering Covid-19 vaccines. She would like to thank her late husband and daughter, Stephanie, for their support.
