TARBORO, NC, August 09, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Evelyn J. Johnson, EdD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing on decades of experience in elementary education, Dr. Johnson is a motivational speaker and coach who guides educators toward successful outcomes. As the owner of ejohnson Consulting, LLC, she collaborates with teachers and principals, visits classrooms and travels around the country to speak to members of the profession about strategies for success. Additionally, she serves on the Edgecombe County Board of Education, overseeing the district's 14 schools.
Dr. Johnson decided to enter the education field during her studies at Winston-Salem State University after she was encouraged by members of the faculty, recognizing her promise as an educator. She earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from the institution in 1969. She subsequently obtained a master's degree in education administration and supervision from East Carolina University in 1980 and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 1995.
Before becoming a consultant and motivational speaker, Dr. Johnson worked for 15 years as a classroom teacher in Edgecombe County. She later held positions in education administration, serving as assistant principal of South Edgecombe Middle School and Southwest Edgecombe High School and principal of Roberson Elementary School and Phillips Middle School. These experiences allowed Dr. Johnson to become familiar with countless children, watching them believe in themselves and reaching their aspirations. In a career filled with highlights, she is most proud of helping parents realize their critical role in ensuring the success of their children, as well as assisting schools in developing and attaining their goals. She is passionate about being a positive role model to her students and leaving a footprint that inspires them to achieve success through their own methods.
To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Dr. Johnson is active with several industry-related organizations, including the National Education Association and the National Retired Teachers Association. To commemorate her accomplishments, she is the recipient of a Star Teacher Award. Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Dr. Johnson is a member of the Edgecombe County Department of Social Services, Edgecombe-Nash Retired School Personnel, Harrison Family YMCA, and a volunteer with local hospitals. Retired since 2010, Dr. Johnson is currently writing a book, tentatively titled "Death in the House," chronicling the experience of losing her husband and son. She hopes the book will help people cope with loss, particularly African Americans.
