OAKLAND, CA, August 12, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lydia Meyers, MSN, RN, CWCN, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An expert in wound care, Ms. Meyers has served as a dedicated nurse for more than two decades. To prepare for her career as a nurse, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bethel College in 1996 and a Master of Science in Nursing in nursing administration from Keiser University in Fort Lauderdale in 2013. Well qualified in her field, she is a registered nurse and certified wound care nurse. As part of her commitment to the profession, Ms. Meyers is a member of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society, the American Nurses Association and the Wound Healing Society.

Following her academic accomplishments, Ms. Meyers used her nursing knowledge to become a wound care specialist. Ms. Meyers gained knowledge of her passion when working in home healthcare. Under the guidance of 2 wound care certified nurses, Lydia found her passion. The need to learn and become certified was her new goal. Ms. Meyers found herself working as the clinical manager at National Healing Wound Clinic in Mishawaka, Indiana. The experience pushed her forward to wanting to learn more. Her dream of being certified became real at the Maples in Goshen Indiana. After taking the test, Lydia included in her job title Assistant Director of Nursing and Certified Wound Care Nurse. This was the first time Lydia became acquainted with state regulators. This turned out to be educational for the regulators and Lydia.

Ms. Meyers continued her journey in education as she found herself working as a Clinical Manager for a hospice agency, then a home health care agency, finally ending in Indiana working for the Center for Medicare/Medicaid (CMS) as a nurse reviewer. Working at CMS allowed Lydia to learn how Medicare payments work. Then having the chance to move to California, Ms. Meyers moved across state. Joining the contract nursing part of healthcare, Lydia began working at several California hospitals and interacting with State Surveyors as well as Joint Commission Surveyors, learning the different ways the hospitals worked and the importance of Wound Care Coordinators. Lydia was excited to learned, teach, and help patients. Each doctor, nurse and patient was a teaching minute and she continued to grow in her passion with each moment.

At the age of 67, Lydia found it difficult to continue to work as a bedside wound care nurse. This became very apparent after taking an assignment at National Institute of Health. Her experience was as amazing as it was difficult. The wound care nurses there are responsible for 7 floors of the hospital as well as 14 floors of clinics. Once patients are discharged from the hospital portion, he/she will be followed up in the clinic. Being part of the research and learning about many atypical diagnosis and wounds. Learning from nurses, doctors, and case managers, she was excited to return to California.

After retiring, Ms. Meyers takes her knowledge to helping patients and people in a different way. Using the paralegal classes Ms. Meyers wants to take her knowledge to help those who face unfair treatment. Today there is disparity in healthcare and the legal system. From Sickle Cell patients being called "Drug Seekers" to men being accused of murder in second degree because of race. Mr. Meyers only wants to continue the journey she has been on for most of her life.
