    SALEM, IN, August 16, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John Patrick Revels has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Drawing on over four decades of expertise, Mr. Revels specializes in the criminal justice field. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he pursued an education at Cayuga County Community College, where he obtained an Associate of Science in math and science, with a minor in psychology, in 1976. He continued his academic efforts at Eastern Kentucky University, earning an Associate of Arts in criminal justice and corrections, followed by a Bachelor of Science in police administration in 1979. He concluded his scholarly endeavors at the University of Louisville, attaining a Master of Science in administration of justice in 1982, and a Specialist in Education in administration of higher education in 1986. As a commitment to his field, Mr. Revels has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society and the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Revels began his career as a correctional officer at the Kentucky State Reformatory between 1978 and 1979, while concurrently serving as the senior officer in the fugitive unit at the Kentucky State Government Department of Justice between 1978 and until his retirement in 2000. During this period, he garnered expertise in a variety of roles at various organizations, including as a teacher at the Eastern Kentucky University College of Law Enforcement from 1984 until 1991, and a police officer at the St. Regis Park Police Department from 1984 to 1987. Mr. Revels also contributed as a deputy sheriff at the Harrison County Sheriff's Department between 1989 and 1998, and since 1996, he has found much success as a park ranger at the Harrison County Parks Department, where he is responsible for patrolling parks, boat rentals, zoos and baseball and basketball campgrounds.

Mr. Revels was active in his role as a deputy coroner for the Washington County Coroner's Office from 2005 to 2015, and as a councilman for the Washington County Council since 2011. Additionally, he maintained involvement with the Palmyra Police Department as a police officer from 2014 until 2016. Outside of his main vocational path, Mr. Revels has served as a ski instructor at Paoli Peaks since 2008, and a driver at John Jones Auto Group since 2005.

To commemorate his accomplishments, Mr. Revels received the Distinguished Citizen Award from former Mayor Jerry Abramson of Louisville in 1995. Kentucky Colonel (from former Kentucky Governor Collins, 1984). Outstanding Young Men in America, 1986. Honorary Sheriff of Jefferson County (by former Sheriff Joe Green, 1989). Captain of the Belle of Louisville (by former Jefferson Country Judge Executive Armstrong, 1989. Long dedicated to civic advocacy, he has contributed his time and services to the Salem Exchange Club (President 2009), the Lions Club, as a volunteer soccer coach at his local YMCA, a scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America and a little league coach at the Salem Parks Department. In a career filled with highlights, he is most proud of serving as a police officer, a teacher at Eastern Kentucky University achieving 5,000 arrests throughout his tenure as an officer, and passing a sustainable annual budget in his capacity as a councilman. Mr. Revels attributes much of his success to being the best version of himself, and to setting goals and striving to achieve them.
