For more than 45 years, Dr. Wooldridge has distinguished himself in the medical field as a nephrologist and senior partner at Nephrology and Hypertension Associates Ltd. in Tupelo, Mississippi. Recognized as the first regional nephrologist in all of northeast Mississippi to establish a practice, he excels in general nephrology and dialysis. Since establishing his dialysis practice in 1977, Dr. Wooldridge has expanded from just 14 patients to approximately 1,000. His practice now oversees 14 dialysis units across North Mississippi.
In addition to seeing patients in his office, Dr. Wooldridge has cared for hospital patients and has served as medical director for various dialysis units in North Mississippi since 1977. He also frequently conducts research to remain aware of developments in the field and disseminates his findings in numerous scholarly articles and abstracts. Furthermore, Dr. Wooldridge has presented before various professional groups on nephrology.
Dr. Wooldridge has been active on the national and regional Fresenius Medical advisory board since 2007. He also served as the chair of the Network 8 medical review board between 1999 and 2003, as well as from 2007 to 2013. Among other roles, Dr. Wooldridge is a member of the Mississippi Nephrology task force.
Locally, Dr. Wooldridge enjoys volunteering as a parishioner of his church as a Sunday school teacher. He also contributes to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, as well as many other charities.
Dr. Wooldridge received undergraduate degrees at Millsaps College in biology and chemistry in 1968, followed by a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Mississippi in 1972. He subsequently completed an internship at University Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, and a residency and fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Well qualified in his field, Dr. Wooldridge is board certified in internal medicine, with a subspecialty in nephrology.
As a part of his professional commitments, Dr. Wooldridge has been aligned as a prominent member of the American Medical Association, the Renal Physicians Association, the Mississippi State Medical Association, the International Society of Nephrology and, among others, the American Society of Nephrology. He is also a past president of the Mississippi Nephrologic Society.
Due to his accomplishments in the field of medicine, Dr. Wooldridge received a Mississippi Kidney Foundation Award and an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Mississippi Kidney Foundation. Additionally, he was named as one of the Best Doctors in America in the Southeast Region in Woodward/White Publications.
