An expert in corporate compliance and sustainability, Ms. Sams has been a legal professional for more than 10 years. Prior to embarking upon her professional career, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Arkansas in 2002 and a Juris Doctor from the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2006. Well qualified in her field, she also attained a Master's Certificate in contract management from George Washington University. In 2010, she became the Director of Contracts for a service disabled veteran owned small business that focused on Federal and State government procurement and acquisitions. In 2013, she shifted focus from federal and state contracting to logistics. In 2013, she began working with a large 3PL, focusing on international compliance.
In 2016, Ms. Sams moved into an in-house counsel role for the 3PL, and since 2022, she has been Associate General Counsel for the company. In this capacity, she serves as the primary liaison with the senior leadership team that advises their internal clients on legal issues. Her team drafts, revises, and negotiates approximately 20 contracts for review daily. During her tenure with the company, she was honored with the President's Award in 2016. Known for her contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Ms. Sams is committed to social justice, equality, and alleviating poverty. Her family donated seed money and land to begin a homeless shelter in her hometown that is named for her brother, the Randy Sams Outreach Shelter. Although she now lives four hours away, she stays very much involved with the shelter through monetary and supply donations along with attending fundraisers for its benefit as she is able.
