A certified personal trainer, Mr. Wilburn has dedicated his career to promoting health and wellness. He became involved in his profession out of a passion for seeing people gain a healthier body, mind and spirit through exercise. He began physically training his body for weight lifting while in high school, drawing inspiration from the likes of Joe Weider of Muscle Builder fame and former bodybuilder Mike Mentzer. Keeping his focus on improving his body served as an excellent outlet during Mr. Wilburn's youth, spurring him to share this joy with others throughout the course of his career.
To prepare for his professional journey, Mr. Wilburn earned an Associate of Science in pre-nursing from Pellissippi State Community College in 1992 and Bachelor of Business Administration from Tusculum College in 2005. He began his career as a personal trainer for Exclusive Fitness LLC and became its owner in 2014. In this capacity, he handles operations for the company while overseeing his gym to ensure it is running well, and trains clients on an individualized basis.
Thanks to Mr. Wilburn's leadership, despite having to shut down the gym for several weeks during the COVID-19 pandemic and losing many members in the process, the business was able to emerge in a strong position to achieve even higher profits than before. In recognition of his excellent work with his company, he was the Top-Notch award winner from GM Knoxville Mercury Outsider Newspaper and his gym was named as the second best in Knoxville in 2021.
An accomplished athlete in his own right, Mr. Wilburn started his complete physique personal training in 1994, the same year he was named as the Jan Tana Classic Heavy Weight Champion. Over the course of his career, he has been honored with many awards, including the Eastern States Super Heavy and Overall Champion in 1998 and the Mr. Tennessee Super Heavy and Overall Champion in 2000. Following this time, he was the overall winner for the Hydroxycut Hardbody Challenge and the overall champion in 2009, later winning second place at the Battle at the River Masters Division in 2010. In 2012, he also won second place in the Greater Knoxville Classic Masters, second place in the Masters Mr. Tennessee competition and third place in the Open Heavy Mr. Tennessee.
Continuing his athletic career, Mr. Wilburn won third place in the Mid Atlantic Classic Masters in 2016 and second place in the Knox Classic Masters Division in 2017. That year, he was also the Total Body Championships Masters champion and was named the Flex Lewis Classic Over 50 Champion in 2019. He was also presented with an Inspiration Award from the Nashville Night of Champions Over 40 Champions for making a comeback from bi-lateral hip replacements 10 months prior.
Mr. Wilburn's professional and athletic successes have been driven by his philosophy that a person is never too young or too old to improve themselves mentally and physically.
