Dr. Vijay S. Darekar, President of American Technocraft India Private Limited, was born in India. After completing his engineering education with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering from the University of Poona (India), he migrated to the U.S. in 1970, to pursue advanced studies. Here he earned two more Master's Degrees in Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Engineering and a Ph.D. in Simulation Engineering from Cornell University.
Alongside, Dr. Darekar worked in diversified industries such as steel, automobile, electronics and computer through technical and managerial positions in the areas of manufacturing, process and product development, product and plant design, project coordination, reliability engineering and R&D.
During the past 50 years in the U.S., Dr. Darekar had the opportunity to work for world class corporations like Pullman, IBM and Texas Instruments on their worldwide projects in Russia, UK, Germany, Poland, Mexico, Japan, Egypt and Iran. In the later years, Dr. Darekar founded his own company 'American Technocraft' providing technical consultation, designing and manufacturing services for the computer, electronic and renewable energy industries.
This entire working career resulted in 15 awards, 3 medals, 5 patents and 14 publications.
In the future, Dr. Darekar would like to utilize his vast high-tech experience and knowledge to promote Indo–American trade for the benefit of both the countries. He further would like to promote manufacturing and development in renewable energy fields (solar, wind, hydro and geothermal) by making his family land (~500 acres) near Mumbai, India, available for the manufacturing, R&D and other trade facilities.
