Lisa Hicks-Clayton Celebrated by Marquis Who's Who for Dedication to the Field of Community Service

    DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI, September 07, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lisa Hicks-Clayton has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Ms. Hicks-Clayton completed undergraduate coursework at Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Florida. She also earned Harvard Business School's Leadership Principles Certification. Ms. Hicks-Clayton served as an educator and administrator for nearly two decades before pivoting to take on the role of political organizer for the American Federation of Teachers.

A former field organizer for the Michigan Democratic Party, Ms. Hicks-Clayton presently excels as a community advocate, as well as a Council Member for nine-and-a-half years and was elected City Treasurer for the City of Dearborn Heights in 2020. In her work with the city, she has assisted to expand policies and programs, which are necessary to support infrastructure maintenance and improvements. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Hicks-Clayton has expanded upon her expertise through her affiliation with the Michigan Municipal League, which presented her with several certifications, as well as Monterrey County Courts, the Michigan Infrastructure Council – Asset Management Champion, and the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business.

Ms. Hicks-Clayton served with the Kiwanis Club, City Beautiful, the City's Commission on Aging and Commission on Disabilities, and the Southeast Michigan Council of Government, as well as her local church and food bank. In recognition of her professional efforts, she received a Community Leadership Award from the National Honor Society, the Steel Magnolia Award, and the Distinguished Governor Award from her local Kiwanis Club. Looking forward, Ms. Hicks-Clayton aims to document her struggles and triumphs as a woman in politics and encourage minority populations to pursue careers in public service.
