Dr. Oyakawa is the owner and president of Sharper Vision Centers. Prior to establishing his organization, he served as an ophthalmologist for Good Samaritan Hospital and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Moreover, he gained valuable experience in executive positions with White Memorial Medical Center and Pacific EyeNet, for which he is credited as the co-founder. He was also aligned with the Health South Surgery Center of the South Bay, Queen of the Valley Hospital, and West Anaheim Medical Center.

An alumnus of the University of Southern California, Dr. Oyakawa earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry. He also received an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and an MD from the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Oyakawa completed internships and residencies through the University of Southern California's LACUSC Medical Center, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the University of Miami, and Jackson Health System, the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. He is licensed to practice medicine in the state of California.

To remain current with industry-related trends, Dr. Oyakawa is affiliated with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the California Medical Association, and the Los Angeles Society of Ophthalmology. An avid scientific researcher in his field of expertise, Dr. Oyakawa has contributed to such publications as "Idiopathic Juxtafoveolar Capillary Retinal Telangiectasis," "Survey of Perfluoropropoane and Sulfer Hexaflouride Use" and "Clinical Course of Flap Removal." In recognition of his professional achievements, he earned an Award for Presentation, as well as an Outstanding Teacher Award, and the HEED Award.
