Michel Negroponte Celebrated by Marquis Who's Who for Dedication to Non-Fiction Filmmaking

    LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY, September 12, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michel Negroponte has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Michel Negroponte is an award-winning filmmaker who has been making feature length documentaries for more than 40 years. He was born and raised in New York City, and studied filmmaking with Richard Leacock and Ed Pincus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the 1970s.

He has directed and produced over two dozen documentaries for networks including HBO, PBS, the BBC and ARTE. One of his early works, Jupiter's Wife (1995) was awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Documentary Filmmaking, and won major awards at the Sundance Film Festival, the Vancouver International Film Festival and the Santa Barbara Film Festival. His other films include Methadonia (2005) which premiered at the New York Film Festival, I'm Dangerous with Love (2009) which premiered at Sheffield DocFest and An Autobiography of Michelle Maren (2015) which premiered at DOC NYC.

Mr. Negroponte has worked in a producing capacity on many films, among them Bookwars (2000) by Jason Rosette, Fastpitch (2000) by Jeremy Spear, the Academy Award-nominated Children Underground (2001) by Edet Belzberg, Manhattan, Kansas (2006) by Tara Wray, Orthodox Stance (2007) by Jason Hutt, and Monsieur Le President (2017) by Victoria Campbell.

More recently, Mr. Negroponte has been making short essay films which can be seen on his website: michelnegropontefilm.com. His newest work-in-progress is Herd, a feature film which will be released in 2023.

Michel Negroponte has also taught in the graduate and undergraduate film programs at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Temple University, The School of Visual Arts and the Vermont College of Fine Arts.

Michel Negroponte has been married to the artist, Joni Wehrli, for 36 years and they have two children, Peter and Ramona. They currently live and work in the Catskills.
