BOSTON, MA, September 16, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Giovanni Pasquale DeCunto has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A highly regarded artist, Mr. DeCunto's expressionist paintings contain graceful, abstract and representational forms made with boldly colored acrylic paint. His work confronts contemporary issues and can be found in venues throughout the world, including the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C., the Fogg Museum at Harvard University and the city hall of Padua, Italy. His works also hang in the private homes of celebrities such as Lionel Richie, Shaquille O'Neal, Tom Cruise and George H.W. Bush.

Born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to parents Giovanni and Gloria DeCunto, Mr. DeCunto aspired to be an artist at a young age. By the age of 12, his work was being exhibited in local establishments, and he sold his first piece for $35. Mr. DeCunto moved out of his family's home at 15 and began to support himself, living on the streets. After his turbulent childhood, he received a scholarship to attend Boston University, where he perfected his classical and modern painting techniques and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in three years. He subsequently completed a fellowship at the University of Padua in Italy to study renaissance art and art history.

Among his many career achievements, Mr. DeCunto is especially proud to have been commissioned by the White House to paint a portrait for President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. Notably, he was also nominated for the Evan Camp Award for his service in President Bill Clinton's campaign. In 2016, Mr. DeCunto was recognized for his outstanding career with the key to the city of his hometown of Lawrence. This honor has only been granted to two other recipients, Robert Frost and Leonard Bernstein.

Mr. DeCunto credits his success to his father, a creative man, and his mother, who instilled in him a strong moral code. Looking toward the future, he hopes to keep sharing his art with the world and to live up to the maxim "Be yourself. Change the world."
