BROOKFIELD, WI, September 29, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bill Werner has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 50 years of excellence to his credit as a racing mechanic, Mr. Werner has found success as the owner of his own company: Bill Werner Racing LLC, a professional flat track racing consulting business focusing on components for engines, suspensions and frames.

Mr. Werner began his career as a mechanic for Harley Davidson in 1966 and worked his way up to crew chief by 1974, remaining with the motorcycle manufacturer until 2004. During his tenure, he was named as the Winningest Crew Chief in American Flat Track Racing. After being interviewed for a television broadcast by Dave Despain in the 1980s, he was encouraged to become a color commentator for the broadcasts of the American Motorcyclist Association Grand Nationals, gaining him exposure to fans of his work behind the scenes.

In recognition of his expertise, Mr. Werner was honored with an American Motorcyclist Association Pro Racing Award of Mechanical Excellence in 1996 and was lauded as the Sportsman of the Year by the same organization. He was also the 13-time American Motorcyclist Association Mechanic of the Year and was inducted as a Mechanic of the Year Hall of Fame Legend in 2000. He was subsequently added as a Motorcycle Hall of Fame Legend in 2017, as well. In 2007 he was approached by the AMA to build a racing motorcycle to compete with the Harley-Davidson XR-750. He chose the Kawasaki EX650 and by 2010 his Kawasakis won back-to-back mile Nationals at the legendary Indianapolis and Springfield Miles with Brian Smith as a rider. The introduction of this motorcycle changed flattrack racing, which was at the time primarily dominated by Harley-Davidson. Mr. Werner has also served on the AMA Board of Directors and a board member of the AMA Heritage Foundation, and is currently the chairman of the AMA Hall of Fame Flattrack Nomination Committee.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Werner has tuned motorcycles for such past champion racers as Gary Scott, Jay Springsteen and Scott Parker for a total of 13 American Motorcyclist Association Grand National Championships with over 150 individual National wins. Within the coming years, he plans to continue his consulting business for flattrack.
