Dedicated to providing excellent care for all his patients, Mr. Chua has been a skilled nurse for over 32 years. He originally intended to become a doctor, due primarily to his physician father's influence and what he saw in his father's work. Dr. HB Chua was an internist with a hematology specialty and worked as an outpatient physician at the Westside VA Hospital in Chicago. Bryant "Panda" Chua opted instead to serve society as a registered nurse.
To prepare for his career in health care, Mr. Chua earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loyola University Chicago. He then attained certification as a registered nurse and medical-surgical registered nurse. Following his academic accomplishments, he began his career working in multiple hospitals both as staff and also as an agency nurse in both Illinois and Wisconsin.
Since 2019, Mr. Chua has been a corrections nurse for the State of Illinois Department of Corrections. He recognizes that nursing is a challenging profession but finds empathy to be the most important part of nursing, especially for future generations of professionals. In a career filled with highlights, Mr. Chua is most proud of working in surgical telemetry and as a house nursing supervisor. To remain aware of developments affecting his field, he is a member of the Illinois Nurses Association-RC23, and the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses. He credits his success in nursing to the excellent education he received at Loyola and the many nurses who have mentored and educated him over the course of his career. He intends to continue his work as a nurse for the State of Illinois Department of Corrections in the future.
