Mr. Adamson was recognized by the North Country Trail Association as Trail Builder of the Year.
WEST SALEM, OH, October 05, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard Michael Adamson Sr. has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. After more than 40 years as a communications technician for the Associated Press, Mr. Adamson began working for the Buckeye Trail Association in Shawnee, Ohio. As a trail maintenance manager and head state trail coordinator, he supervises 1,400 miles of what is considered the longest continuous hiking path in North America. A respected member of the organization, Mr. Adamson is also a member of the Buckeye's board and served on the Board of Directors of The North Country National Scenic Trail (also known as the North Country Trail or simply the NCT).
Throughout his career, Mr. Adamson has been responsible for designing and constructing many miles of trail segments all over the state, including a very successful project that included moving trails offroad from Toledo south about 120 miles where there was once a canal. He also led a team that renovated The Century-Old Barn for the organization's headquarters. For the past 10 years, Mr. Adamson has been working on a 30-mile section of the path, which is located in the northeastern part of Ohio and is being built by a team of volunteers from throughout the state.
An enjoyable field, Mr. Adamson began hiking the Buckeye Trail shortly before he retired from his career as a technician. In addition to the management aspect of his role, Mr. Adamson appreciates working in the woods and has even learned how to identify various types of tree species and animals.
Outside of his responsibilities with the Buckeye Trail Association, Mr. Adamson has been the owner and operator of Whispering Pines Produce since 2016. Located in West Salem, Ohio, he accommodates numerous greenhouses on the property to grow his produce. Many of his employees, which are notably of Amish descent, have been instrumental in the business's success. In his spare time, Mr. Adamson volunteers his time as an Amish driver, helping friends and neighbors in need of transportation.
As a local member of the community, Mr. Adamson has served on the board of Lodi Community Hospital. He is also an active member of the National Rifle Association where he has attained an expert rating for his shooting skills. To commemorate his accomplishments, Mr. Adamson was recognized by the North Country Trail Association as Trail Builder of the Year.
