During the early stages of her career, she gained valuable expertise in the industry at Whitesburg Gardens where she remained for eight years. Additionally, she served as an English teacher in Hiroshima, Japan and rendered 16 years in Chattanooga City Schools as an elementary school teacher. Outside of her main career she volunteers in children ministry at Mt. Calvary SDA Church.
An expert in her field, Ms. Smith received a bachelor's degree from Andrews University in 1975, a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Alabama A&M University in 2001 and became Vital Stim certified at Loma Linda University in 2010. To remain aware of developments affecting her field, she maintains professional alignment with several organizations, including the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Speech and Hearing Association of Alabama.
To commemorate her accomplishments, Ms. Smith was honored with the Angel Award through Signature HealthCare of Whitesburg Gardens in 2010 and 2011. In a career filled with highlights, she is most proud of making a difference in the lives of children and adults. Looking toward the future Ms. Smith would like to become a certified Auditory-Verbal Therapist.
