Jean Carol garnered a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for her role in the Academy Award winning film "Argo."

A New Jersey native, Jean began her career at the age of three in New York City, as a model and actor, appearing for seven seasons in plays produced by the Junior Theater Repertory Company at Carnegie Hall. She made her television debut on "The Today Show" and appeared in many print campaigns and television commercials throughout her childhood.

Moving to Florida when she was in the seventh grade, Jean focused on schoolwork and won a DAR Award for Excellence in History and a Kiwanis Club Citizenship Award. In high school she was the editor of the Creative Writing Anthology, took home an American Pen Women's Award for Poetry, became a Miami News Top Teen and Miami Herald Silver Knight Nominee for Social Science. She was President of the Pep Club and the Future Teachers of America Chapter, and represented her city as Miami's Junior Miss, and Miss Teenage Miami. A Phi Beta Kappa at Florida State University, Jean studied broadcasting, history, and theater, earning her B.A. degree and taking on reporting, producing and hosting duties at WFSU-TV, Tallahassee. She was selected Miss Miami, placing in the finals of the Miss Florida Pageant.

Jean went on to acquire her M.S. degree in Interdepartmental Social Science with an emphasis in city planning, and became Principal Planner with the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council. She authored an Open Space and Recreation Plan that resulted in the acquisition of many parks and conservation areas, including the expansion of a wildlife refuge and national seashore. The plan became a primary building block for other planning in east central Florida. It was selected as an outstanding project by the American Institute of Planning, and a model for the State of Florida, the U.S. Department of the Interior and the United Nations. Jean also served on the Commission on the Status of Women and Leadership Orlando, and was selected one of Glamour Magazine's Outstanding Young Working Women.

Jean returned to her career in broadcasting with NBC Orlando affiliate WESH-TV, hosting "Today, Tonight and Tomorrow," and CBS affiliates WDBO-TV in Orlando, and KFMB-TV in San Diego, as a host/writer/producer of the nationally syndicated television show, "PM Magazine." There, she earned an Emmy Award for Best Informational Programming, and multiple nominations as host, producer and writer, as well as a National Award for Best Feature Story. She hosted many other interview and magazine shows including "Healthy Lifestyles," and was a host/reporter/producer and media trainer for LA City View Channel 35 for the City of Los Angeles.

Continuing her acting work in film and television, Jean joined the cast of CBS-TV's daytime drama, "Guiding Light" for seven years, becoming a Best Supporting Actress Emmy Nominee and winning a Soap Opera Award for Outstanding Newcomer for her role along with four other nominations. She later garnered a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for her role in the Academy Award winning film "Argo." In other film and television, she's starred in numerous productions including "Lucifer," "The Mentalist," "Monk," "Six Feet Under," "90210," "Misguided," "Ocean Avenue" and many commercials. She is also credited as a producer for the comedy film "The Show."

Since 2005 Jean has been an Adjunct Professor at College of the Canyons teaching writing and performing for broadcasting, professional practices, and media and society to inform about the critical role of media today. She is on the Media Entertainment Advisory Committee. Jean is also an instructor at the Los Angeles Performing Arts Conservatory, teaching acting, theater and film history, hosting and commercial skills and on camera dynamics to a new generation of aspiring actors and filmmakers. She is a member of the Actors Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA, serves on the nominating committee for the Screen Actors Guild Awards and continues to work and create artists in her field where she garnered both mentorship and inspiration. She aims to continue acting, creating and teaching, always encouraging her students to follow their passion in the industry.
